Searching for anything on my grandfather Frank Pelikan. Married Anna Sporer in Allegheny Co., PA . in 1896. According to 1900 census, they lived with Frank Sporer in Madison, Ind. Anna's mother was Maria Sporer who was born 1941. Frank and Anna had 6 children: Louisa, Frank, Albert, Alto (Fred), Joseph and Bertha. Anna died in 1926 in Ridgway, PA. After that there is nothing in census about her husband (my grandfather). Have found this name Grant Pelikanowies (Frantisek (Frank) Pelikan) whose birthdate and immigration dates match my grandfather. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Loving father of James (Rebecca Brady), Thomas (Marilyn) and John (Mary).
Dear grandfather of Carlotta Pelikan (Hector Cabrera), Christine Pelikan-Wehling (Greg), Sara Pelikan, Mathew LoParo, Robert LoParo (Michael Pack), Mathew Pelikan (Holly), Cynthia Pelikan (Sean Clemmons), Dorothy Mallona (Martin) and Jacenta Pelikan.
Great-grandfather of 13; Sofia, Alex, Isabel, Ava, Liam, Audrey, Michael, Serena, Prascu, Rafael, Tessa, Xavier, and Natalie.

Youngest of eight siblings and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Known as "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lou had a caring and gentle heart.

Lou retired from Nationwide Insurance, was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and was active at St. Charles Borromeo.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Mount Alverna Village who cared for Lou over the past seven years, especially the most recent two years in the Memory Unit.

Funeral Mass Friday, June 14 at 10:30am at St. Charles Borromeo, 5891 Ridge Rd., Parma.
The family will receive friends at ZABOR FUNERAL HOME, 5680 PEARL RD., PARMA (between Ridge and Snow) Thursday 4-8.

I am preparing a new edition of the ancestry of the Pellekaan, Van Holst Pellekaan, Pellikaan, Pellecaen and Pellicaan families. The first edition of the (“red”) family history book (“with a golden print of the family shield on the cover”) was published in 1960, written by A.K. Vink. Since we are now talking half a century later, it is time to not only include the additional information we find during our research, but of course also to complete all details from the late 1950’s till today.

During research on the web, I found you name. It would be great if you are able to help and not only forward this message to your family member, but also to provide me with as many details as you can think of. Think about the full name(s) of your brother(s) and/or sister(s), date and place of birth, the full names, place and date of birth and marriage of your father and mother, and other things like full name(s) of any other family members you can think of like your grandparents, uncle(s) and aunt(s), etc. The more info we get, the more complete can we make the new edition of the family history book.

Again, any information about your parents and grandfather is key because we want to make the connection with the information of the 1st edition of the book.

Judy, I believe that you wrote to me around 2000. I recently was going through some papers and found your letter. I would like to correspond with you if possible. My uncle was Howard Pelikan and my mother was Adeline Pelikan. I believe that you are a first cousin to them, although you are around my age. We met, I believe, around 1960. I would enjoy hearing from you.
Last summer my husband and I visited the Czech Republic, especially in Prague. I was especially interested in visiting there because I know that I have Bohemian heritage.

I share your name, my husband's a Pellicaan and we too are Australian. His family are from Holland just outside Amsterdam a place called Almkerk, there are quite a few Pellicaans in Aus and Holland.
My house is brimming with them actually thats all anyone buys for us! We still get a laugh when ordering anything...."like the bird" yep!

sorry it took so long to get back about the number. i just noticed it while looking stuff up on my name. the number for my dad is 320-468-6077. my dad is old and hard of hearing now but go ahead and give him a call just speak up so he can hear you. he may still be able to help you. he is close to 80 now. but he still has a good memory about home.

My Name is Greg Pelican and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My Great Grandfather Frank Joseph Pelican, born 24 October 1869, Caslav, Bohemia he moved to Iowa, USA, He changed the spelling from Pelikan
at the time he moved to the US.

I am trying to find out more about our ancestry and this is all the
information I have so far. Is this part of your family?

1) Thomas Pelikan who became a baker (that is all we know). 2) Anastazie Pelikan married Johan Wessely who was a streetcar conductor in Vienna, Austria. 3) Karolin Pelikan married Fred Zimmerman and they also lived in Vienna.

I am sorry I dont have any imformation about an emblem. But I do believe my great grandfather Charles Pelikan came from Austria. I am not sure how common the name is in Austria but its not very common in the US. I know he was born in 1881. If you have any information I would appreciate it.

Hi, I just dined at a Pelikan Restaurant in Prague last week. Even though my name is spelled with the extra L, I found it amusing. My tour guide told me that Pelikan is a common Czech name. I thought that was strange, since my husband's grandparents had always said they came from Hungary around 1910. Of course, there was no Hungary, per se, in 1910 since it was carved out of the Austro-Hungarian Empire by the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. It's also odd that their 1st language was German and most Hungarians don't speak German. I wonder if the part of the Austro-Hungarian empire that the original Pelikans/Pellikans came from was the northern part . . . Austria perhaps (where they speak german) or maybe what is now the Czech Republic? Just curious. deb
