Pekarski, Martin/Stanley/George......
Martin Pekarski b. 1860-1926 had about eight children. Some spelled their names Pikarski and some spelled it Pekarski. Michael (abt. 1889),, Stanley, George, Anthony (Tony), Agnes, Ginny, Minni, and Hilda. Do you know of any ot these names and when and where they moved to USA from Poland? Thank you, Anni

Anni-Greetings! My paternal GGM was Johanna Piekarski, born in Slonsk, Poland(1869) and married John J Stoltman. They immigrated around 1889 and settled near Warsaw, ND and had 13 children. Johanna died 14 May 1936 and is buried in St. Stanislaus Cemetary in Warsaw, ND. There are a few Pics' in the area, but I always assumed they were of Czech decent. Do you show a Johanna amongst the Piekarskis' that you have? A rare name in this part of ND with only one Piekarski buried in St. Sanislaus Cemetary which has several thousand burials. I believe she was Marianna Pokrzywinski and married to Leo Piekarski, she died in 1896. Nothing known of Leo. Where do you live in ND? I was born in Grafton and raised in Drayton. Hope we can connect some folks. Thanks, Jim Ebertowski

Hi Jim, I can't tell you too much, for I have just started on the Pikarski's side. My husbands family are Pik's. What I do know is Martin Pekarski 1860; came from poland and settled in the southeast corner of North Dakota, His father was a John Piekarski and a Petronilla Jimanowski. The only Pik's, Pek's and Piek's I know centralize around the Wahpeton ND Breckenridge Mn area. They all seem to change their spellings around now and then. I would love to compare some notes and dates with you. anni akpikars@rrt.net

Hi Ken - I am Carla's cousin Kent Pikarski's wife. I live 1/4 mile down the road from Lawrence. I can only tell you the tree starting with John Pikarski, Petronilla Jimanowski, Lawerance Ogerek and Michaelina Salewska all about 1840's on down to their children and grandchildren etc. I am trying to get the information on there origin of Poland etc. No one around here seems to know any of the original stories etc. You can contact me at akpikars@rrt.net for other dates. Thanks, anni

Hi, Anni--
Do you know what town they came from in Poland?
|

Re: Pekarski, Martin/Stanley/George......
Hello,
My Paternal Grandfather was Anthony (Tony) Pekarski. He moved to the states from Poland with his wife, Katherine, I believe in the early 1900's. There are many, many Pekarski's now that reside in the communities around North Central Pennsylvania. Tony and Katherine both passed away well before I was born. They did live out their lives pretty much in the town of Coudersport and are burried in the catholic cemetary.

Ken & Anni,
Some time ago, when I was starting my family history research, I wrote to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk, Ill. for what ever information they could find on the Ogorek family, especially my g grandmother & her parents. Among the information I got back was the marriage of Josephina Ogorek to Martinum Pikarski (all names were latinized) dated June 10, 1884. Their parents are listed as Laurentii Ogorek & Michaelinae Salewska and Joannis Pikarski & Petronillae Jimanowska. This may not be new information for you, I don't have the tie back to Poland either, but I think our families were friends there & came here at the same time (1880's). Your ancestors were frequent baptismal sponsors for my family & close friends. I understand that my g grandmother wouldn't move from Kittson County MN near her parents unless it was to follow the Pikarskis to Richland County ND, which is what they did! I would love to hear if you turn anything up on the Poland connection & I'll let you know if I find anything, too.
