Hello guys,

My name is Andrew Waber and I am founder and administrator of this board. My great great grandmother's name was Susanna Pekarcik, daughter of Josef Pekarcik. She married Andrej Harnis Sr and they had three girls and a boy. Josef, her father, had several kids. The name of his wife however is unknown. According to ship records the following *proven* relation has been found: Kata, Mikhaly, Veronika, Gyorgy, Anna, and Stephen. They were all from Dvorce and all settled in Cleveland. I have seen some other Perkaciks also from Dvorce settle in Cleveland who I believe may at least be cousins.

Susanna's son Andrej Harnis Jr. left for Cleveland in 1922 and his voyage was paid for by his sister, Maria. Maria came to America with her aunt Anna to join her uncle Gyorgy "George" in 1915. Andrej, Maria, and Gyrogy all lived down the same street (Sophia Ave). The only other additional info i have is that Veronika married a Frank Abela and she died sometime before Gyorgy did in 1967. Anyone with any leads?

--Andrew

Hey Andrew, I'm Stephen R. Pekarcik Jr., of course my father is senior, my grandfather was Stephen Bernard Pekarcik. His father was George who lived on Sophia Ave. in Cleveland. My grandfather came form George and his second wife Mary Siska. They had two daughters as well Helen and Dorothy. From George and his first wife was George, Joe, John, Marie and Irene. Still tracking the rest of the family before, any further information you gather can you forward please, as I shall do the same. My grandfather, father, and myself all have resided(ing) in Cleveland, Ohio and they're a couple other Pekarcik's in the area. I do believe there is another Steve Pekarcik here as well, don't know his story. The link to my family in which you worte is the mention of Frank Abela and the location of living, which my father remembers in his youth. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Zuzana,

Nice to hear from you! Michael Pekarcik was the name of one of my great grandfather's uncles. According to family stories, Michael and Stefan Pekarcik came to the United States and lived in Cleveland for several years before becoming homesick and going back to Slovakia. Did your grandfather by any chance run a pub or restaurant?

Would love to hear from you! My email is wabnoles@yahoo.com
