I have been away from this line for a while, so I apologize if this post is a bit vague. I was excited to see a recent post to this group since there don't seem to be many.
I am interested in learning more about the Pekar(i) line. My grandmother came to this country when she was very young. Her father, Antonio (Anthony, Tony) Pekari came from a town named Velka Kopana and settled in Mishawaka, IN. I have found a Velkia Kopana (or some variation close to that)in the present day Ukraine. I am pretty sure he had a close relative named Laslzo, but that is a common name. His spouse was Anna Dorogi. I think he came first, and then she joined him a year or two later.
The whole Austria-Hungary empire thing is causing me grief. He listed Czeck on one census and Maygar (Hungarian) on another. I also have an old letter written in Hungarian.
Anyone who may have some connection to Mishawaka, IN, or Velka Kopana would be a great help. Any leads would be appreciated, as my knowledge of this line only includes Antonio and his wife, and their children.
