Muriel is my mom. Does she know you?

Dear Ms. Pekala: thank you for your response today.

In brief: the answer to your question is yes.

Robert "Bobby" Pekala is my cousin. His mother, Helen, and my father, Felix, were sister and brother. Bob's father was Walerian and he was better known as "Chappie." My mother was Evelyn.

Bob joined the Navy in late '1958 or thereabouts and his first duty station was Newport RI. In '60 or '61 he shipped out on a 6th Fleet tour of the Mediterranean (he brough back a piece of tufa rock from Mt. Vesuvius--I still have it). He married your mother Muriel and following his honorable discharge from the Navy they settled in Philadelphia at a Chatham Street address.

In late November '62 my grandfather Andrew Adamczyk marked his 75th birthday. There was a celebration and among the numerous photographs I've since inherited are several in which your mother Muriel appears. You're in those pictures too, at about a year old or so.

I don't know that your mother Muriel will remember me. I was 13 years old at the time and there were a lot of cousins at that party and a whole lotta cousins in those black and white snapshots.

Far more important than old photographs is the fact that this evening I have the opportunity to write to a cousin I haven't seen since 1962.

Your response made my day!

I've been doing some genealogical research over the past few years and I was completely stumped when I bgean to build your branch of the tree. That's why I released an Ancestry.com Message Board inquiry. Again, thank you for responding!

My email is caamontag@comcast.net. My home telephone number is 215-632-2683. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future!

If, however, you find that no response is appropriate, I will understand and want you to know that my family and I wish you and yours only the best wherever your journey may lead.

Sincerely,

Carl Andrew Adamczyk
