Mary Ann Agnes (Brajercik) Pekala, 81, of Jefferson Hills, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born April 13, 1929, in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Bretcko Brajercik
and wife of the late Michael Pekala.
She was retired from the accounting department of the former Ames Department Store and Murphy Mart in Pleasant Hills. A graduate of Clairton High School, she was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton and enjoyed baking, cooking and hosting family gatherings, especially on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene (William "Bill") Koshar, of Rostraver Township; loving "Gram" to her grandsons, Mark and Patrick Koshar; sister, Margaret "Margie" Beattie, of Ligonier; brother, Thomas "Tom" (Shelley) Brajercik, of Aliquippa; sister-in-law, Virginia "Vicki" Pekala, of Clairton, an aunt and uncle, Andrew and Ann (Bretcko) Kmetz; was a special "Aunt Ag" to her nieces and nephews; also survived by many cousins, other relatives and friends. She was also predeceased by sons, Michael and John Pekala; and brother, Stephen Brajercik. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the A.J. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 555 Fifth St., Clairton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Clare Church. Burial will follow in St. Clare Cemetery, Clairton.
