I've traced one of my family lines back to Samuel Paightel of McConellsburg, Bedford/Fulton Co Pa. b 1818 d 28 Oct 1894. If this sounds like your family, post what you know and I'll see if we can fill in some blanks.

Peightals Near Philipsburg, Pa

My father's family lived in Philipsburg, Pa. when he was born in 1895. I have an old picture album which I would guess dates back 100 years or more which identifies several photos as being of a family of Peightals. One is of an Orin Peightal who is identified as being my dad's cousin. The index to the album identifies other Peightals as follows: Clerc, Bill, "mother" Peightal, Jess, "Grandpa",
>Katie, "Pap", Sam, and Edgar. There is a problem, however. The album is in such a tattered condition that many of the
>pictures are loose and not in any order so that is apparently impossible to tell who is
>who unless someone would recognize specific photos. I did not know any more about this family until seing a recent posting on another forum which identified Orin as being Orin Howder Peightal, a son of Milliard and 'Nanny' Howder. I have formed a working premise that this Nanny Howder is related, perhaps a sister, to my dad's mother, Catherine Howder. The only thing I know about her is that she was born to John and Catherine Howder in Jacksonville, Pa. and had a sister Jennie or Gennie who lived in Houtzdale, Pa. If this is the family you were inquiring about please reply to my message. Thank you. Richard Parker

Surnames: Spannuth, Paightel, Kuhn, Clevenger, Harr
Death certificate for great grandmother Annie Kuhn shows her parents as John Spannuth and mother G or P aightel. Annie was born in Mercersburg Pa. ??the certificate states. Does anyone have a Paightel connected with Spannuth. I believe his full name to be Johann Christian Spannuth and her name to be Mary (census records) They have been found in the Fulton County census and Franklin county
