John Austin Pegg of Greene Co, IN
My ggg grandfather also came from Guilford, NC. He came to Indiana with Valentine Pegg an uncle( probably great uncle) via NE central Indiana. I went to Guilford Co. and talk to the Pegg families still in the Guilford area. I believe that his father died when he was young(walling a well for his brother) and John Austin Pegg moved from family member to family member. Some Peggs were with the Quakers and some were Shakers. Will you tell me more of your connection?

Linda,
Did I tell you on a previous e-mail that there was a Lucinda DUNN buried in what once was a PEGG cemetery in Greene Co. IN. I think I still have a picture of her tombstone. The graveyard was on my ggg grandfather place-John Austin Pegg. The graveyard may be completely decimated by now. I sit up the last two remaining stones in the 1970's. The DUNN family was common in Owen Co. but I never find a tie to them or the Pegg's that I could prove.

Stan, I want to thank you for the information re your family. I only recently (although we had been searching several years) learned of our connection to the Pegg family. Therefore, at this time our information regarding Rachel who m James Taylor (a 3rd or 4th great-grandfather on my mother's side) is rather sparse. We know they married in Guilford Co. NC in 1828 and shortly afterward moved to Delaware (now Grant) Co. IN where they continued to live until her demise in 1844 (childbirth related we surmise). Her older children left their fathers and step-mother's home subsequently moving to Iowa. As Rachel definitely is "in" our family we hope to expand our information. I will gladly share any other findings with you. - Betty

Hi, Stan! Yes you sure did! Another person sent me Lucene,Luzann that they concluded actually was Lucinda. We speculated that she was a sister of Louisa H.Pegg who married my Ten Eyck because allegedly both were daughters of Dr.John Austin Pegg. Just couldn't get firm proof! Thanks again! Good to hear from you!

I am trying to trace my dad's side, Louis Leroy Pegg, Jr. His father is Louis Leroy Pegg, Sr. Sr's father was a John Henry Pegg. John shot and killed himself on July 20, 1948 in Wabash, IN while everyone was at church (according to grandpa). Johns dad was Ephren Pegg born abt. 1845 in Indiana, died Jan. 28, 1880 in Wabash. Married Sarah H. Demmar Oct. 30, 1871 in Wabash. Ephren's father was a John Pegg born abt. 1800 in Ohio. He married a Mary (last name unknown.) John and Mary had a lot of kids one being a Louisa Pegg b. abt. 1844 in Indiana. I don't have a Lucinda although I remember comming across that name in the records here in Wabash.
I found out that there are 2 different sets of Peggs here. If you would like I can try to find out more for you. just let me know.
