ORBA PEFFLY
Orba Arthur Peffly, 85, of 123 W. Hively Ave., died at 3 a.m. Sunday at the Fountainview Nursing Home where he was admitted July 7, 1975, after a strike.
He was born in June 15, 1880 (sic—1890) in Milford, and lived in Elkhart for 60 years, moving from Millersburg. He was a burnisher at Buescher Instrument Co., for 35 years, and was retired from the Schell Bulk Plant in 1950.
He married Carrie Belle Groff, April 22, 1911. She survives with one son, Lewis Edward, Elkhart; a daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Nancy) Zimmerman, Milford; two brothers, Nobel (sic—Noble) of Florida, and Floyd, Elkhart, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Zion Missionary Church for 42 years, and was the last ordained deacon of the district.
Friends will be received today at the Yoder Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Missionary Church, 1135 E. Hively. The body will lie in state from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Officiating will be the Reverends John Moran, Quinton Everest and Mark Burgess. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.
