Notes: J. C. Peebles. John C. Peebles, a linotype operator for The Plain Dealer from 1922 to 1925, died Tuesday at his home, 131 West Central Avenue, Delaware, Ohio. He was 79. '
Mr. Peebles, who retired in 1954, owned and operated the Independent Print Shop in Delaware from 1929 until he retired.
Prior to working for The Plain Dealer, Mr. Peebles was the editor of the old Berea Advertiser, and worked on the Akron Beacon Journal and the Galion Enquirer.
He was a 50-year member of the Hiram Masonic, Lodge No. 54 of Delaware, the Delaware Rotary Club and the William Street Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Harriet; a daugher, Mrs. Allen Schmick; a son, Charles E., a brother and six grandchildren.
Services will be at the Hanrahan-Pletcher funeral home, Delaware, at 1 p.m. Sunday
