Based on the Bradbury book, Peebles Ante 1600-1862, and family records, I can trace our Peebles line to Capt. David Peebles who came here from Fife, in Scotlant, in the 1600s. I am looking for information about James Conyers Peebles, b. 1825 in Tennessee, m Alethea "Leathy" Wallace, died in Newburgh, Indiana or nearby in 1868. His parents are said to be Nathaniel and Nancy Marberry Peebles, who came to Tennessee from North Carolina and Virginia, respectively. A large number of Peebles descendants are alive and well in West Tennessee!

It appears that we might be cousins Carolyn. Capt. David is my 9th great-grandfather. I do not, however, have a James Conyers listed anywhere in my files. My mother concentrated on the direct lineage and didn't really look up information on any related lines. I hope you get to see this since I am a little late (13 years LOL) in replying...
