Hi
My Great Grandmother was Anna Magliachette from Alatri. She is a 1st cousin of Pope Leon XIII and received $1.00 from his estate when he died. I would love to know if you can connect the dots for me...

Perhaps researching the Heraldry of his parent might be more fruitful:

Count Dominico Ludovico Pecci and his wife Countess Anna Prosperi Buzi

Surnames: Pecci, Colonna, Bufalini
My grandmother was Pope Leo's 2nd cousin. She was Lucentina Bufalini and married Alberto Colonna. Her mother was either Anna Maria or Carolina Pecci. Now, how do we figure this out? My paternal grandparents emigrated from Patrica, Frosinone, Italy in the early 20's. That's where Pope Leo built a cross on Monte Cacume.

My grandmother, Lucentina Bufalini Colonna was Pope Leo's 2nd cousin on her mother's side. Her mother was either Anna Maria or Carolina Pecci. She was married to Fillippo Bufalini. That branch of the Bufalini's lived in Patrica, Frosinone, Italy and my grandparents and father with 6 other siblings emigrated to Pittsburgh via Aliquippa Pa. I too cannot find the direct line. I just wrote someone else whose mother was a Pecci and a first cousin.

My grandmother was also 2nd cousin to Pope Leo. Her maiden name was Lucentina Bufalini, and her mother was Carolina Pecci (I think)who married Fillippo Bufalini. They emigrated from Patrica, Frosinone, Italy in the early 20's and settled in Pittsburgh. My last name is Colonna and I live in Pittsburgh still.

That's cool. :) I appreciate your telling me your last name. You wouldn't have a family tree online by anychance? My great great grandfather's (Gregorio Martinelli) dad was supposed to be second cousins with Leo XIII. Problem is that I don't know my great great grandfather's dad's name. The only thing I know of him is that he had the title of Prefect for life of Rome, though I honestly don't know what that means.
