Thomas Franklin Pebley, Sr. died November, 1857. It is said he is buried on a farm owned by his second wife, the former Mrs. Nancy Hunt.

Does anyone know where this grave is? I heard it was in Saline County, Missouri.

On his farm. But I don't know where it is in Clay Co. MO He is an estate notice: Notice from the January 4, 1858 Libery Tribune -- " "Make application to the Clay Co. Court at the next March term thereof for an order to sell the slaves belonging to said estate (Thomas Franklin Peebley) for the purpose of distribution amoung the heirs. You being one of the heirs of said estate can, if you wish, be present when said application is made".

My information shows him married to Anna Cameron who died 1854 and buried in Clay County Missouri. Perhaps Thomas was buried in Clay County as well.
I have his death date as Dec 7, 1857.

More recently, I ran on to information that he was buried on "Nancy Pebley's farm". Her being a fairly new wife to him, that graciously gave her share of the inhertance in that she only took a child's portion of the estate instead of half, may have owned her own farm. Or it could be his farm that was part of his estate. At any rate, it wasn't a public cemetery, and it is likely that the grave would be hard to find.

Thank you for responding.

Many years ago I read Thomas was buried on a farm owned by his second wife, Nancy Hunt. I believe it was in Pettis County, MO. Since I was new to researching at that time, I did not document what I read. I believe the book was in the Missouri Historical Society Library in Columbia, MO. I have not been able to get up there lately and wondered if anyne else had read the same book.

Thanks again for your response. Feel free to contact me at kwinn@rollanet.org

Their is another burial that you may be interested in. His oldest son, Henderson, is reported on many websites as having died in MO and buried in Bush Cemetery. But recently I found his grave, and that of his wife, Martha Ann, and a grandaughter "Mollie" in the Pilot Point Community Cemetery in Pilot Point, Texas. Interestingly, Pilot Point is about 30 miles west of my home, so I have vistited the graves and taken pictures. I've had no luck determining why or when they came to Texas, but I'm fairly sure it was the late 1870's, shortly before he died. She died 2/22/1893.

Thank you for the updated burial information on Henderson and his wife, Martha.

The Atchison County Histrical Society's book "Gone But Not Forgotten", shows Henderson's death date of 27 Dec 1879 and no death date for his wife. This is on page 15. I'll change the information in my records to show your latest finding.

Would you please send me e-mail copies of the Henderson's graves. My e-mail address is kwinn@rollanet.org.

Thanks again.
