Pebler, Pibler, Peevlor, Peebler, Peavler
My third great grandfather was Christopher Peavler VA>TN>KY. He was born around 1785-1787 in Virginia. Married Catherine Yeast / Yost, place and date unknown. I can find Pibler's (Lewis, Jacob, Christian, and Francis) in the Virginia Tax Lists of the late 1700's, but cannot make the connection. Any help would be appreciated.

Jim
Just found your Aug. 99 posting. You probably have more info by now, but in case you haven't found this, here goes. Johann Franciscus Bibler and wife, Albertina Charlotha Kroh, both born in Germany, had several children. Among them were: Ludwig (aka Lewis), Jacob, Christian and Francis. I know that Francis can be found as Francis Pebler and Francis Bibler. I don't know why He had the name Pebler as I cannot find reference to his father or any of his siblings by that name. They all (the children) were raised in the Rockingham/Shenandoah Co., area of VA. Francis and Jacob moved to Fairfield Co., OH and died there. Francis married Mary Pence. Info on the Pense family states that Francis and Mary went to Fairfield Co., abt 1805. It also says that a deed in Scott Co., KY, involving the children of Adam Pense (Mary's father) was signed by Mary Pebler of Fairfield Co., OH. This was afer Francis' death. I have seen recently that Francis was on the tax roll in VA as Francis Pebler. I don't remember where I found this, but am sure it is in my files somewhere.
Francis is my 4g grandfather, and I have never had him by any other name than Bibler. The Pebler name is a very recent discovery.

Re: Pebler, Pibler, Peevlor, Peebler, Peavler
Shirley, I never pursued the Pebler name after my April 2002 posting. I received no intelligible response and did not worry about it. As an aside, I later found that Johann Franciscus Bibler, my 5th g grandfather was my wife’s 4th g grandfather via another son. Regards and good luck, Dave

Re: Pebler, Pibler, Peevlor, Peebler, Peavler
Shirley,
My name is Robert Behrens. I am researching the Pebler surname because my grandmother's (maiden) name was Marie Pebler. She was born in New York City in 1862. Her father was George Pebler (actually Wilhelm Georg). I know pretty much the ancestry of George Pebler dating back to his birth in 1836 in Buedingen, Hesse (Germany). I have a microfilm of the church birth/marriage and death records from Buedingen dating back to 1818. There are quite a few Peblers from that town in Germany. It is difficult to read the old German handwriting, but I am making slow headway. As of now, there seem to be be three lines of Peblers from Buedingen: framilies of Wilhelm Pebler, Johannes Pebler and Friedrick Pebler. I am descended from the Wllhelm Pebler line. In fact, his wife Elizabeth, arrived in New York City in 1866 at the age of 60, presuambly after her husbands death in Germany. I am now searching the German church records to see if I can confirm his date of death.
I have evidence of three single Pebler men arriving in New York City in the 1850s: George, Charles, and Wilhelm. George and Charles were brothers from Buedingen and Wilhelm (William) was a nephew, apparently born in the UK. I have not yet been able to track this Pebler line from the UK. I know for certain that all three Peblers were in New York City as late as 1869. William, I believe, eventually moved to upstate NY (probably Ravena) where there seems to be another Pebler clan. It also seems that there is also another Pebler clan in West Virginia. I do not know anything about the origin of the WV Peblers and very little about the Ravena Peblers as I have not yet researched them.
I would be interested in hearing what information you have about the Peblers in the US. If your ancestors came from Buedingen, perhaps I can help with some original documentation.
Regards,
Robert Behrens Tucson, Arizona

Re: Pebler, Pibler, Peevlor, Peebler, Peavler
Gosh - a whole year before anyone answers any of your questions. I am sorry that I can not help you WITH your Pebler family, but I think I can help you eliminate one family. I have been researching the Peebler family since 1976. I am quite sure that we are not related to your family. I have absolute evidence that our family was in America by at least 1768 with the birth of my g.g.g. grandfather Michael Peebler. In addition, we (more than one person working on this big puzzle of family history) have really good evidence that we are related to the Beeler family.
Good luck with your work...

Re: Pebler, Pibler, Peevlor, Peebler, Peavler
I am sort of answering my own question....
Oooooops - after nearly 15 years on the wrong path, another genealogist and I had a DNA test done testing a Peebler, Peveler and Beeler. The results: the Peebler family and Peveler family are related for sure. However, neither family is related to the Beeler family. I am not quite sure the Peebler family is related to the Bibler family. I have pretty good evidence and if you are interested send me a message.
