Well, Like I posted, I only have W. Emazish Moye,born march 30 1860 married to Mary Jane Kent, with 4 children Gussie Edward Moye, Born Oct 16 1891, Annie Estelle Moye Born mar. 27 1895, Georgia Moye Born Jan 1898, and Charlie C. Moye, Born abt 1906.
Gussie Edward married Nina, (no last name) and had one child Irma F. Moye
Anna Estelle Moye married Perry Edward Pevy, and had 9 children. (This is my Grandfather and grandmother)
Georgia Moye married a man named Montgomery, I have no record of any children.
Charlie c. Moye married Odell B. and have no record of any children.
If you have any record of these names in your tree, please let me know..

Tracy, I do not have much on the Moye linage. My Grandmother Annie Estelle Moye, Married Perry Edward Pevy, (His father spelled the name Peavy) about 1918. Annie Moye was the Daughter of W.Emazish Moye and Mary Jane Kent, and had two brothers Gussie Edward Moye and Charlie C. Moye, and one sister Georgia Moye. Other than that I have very little on this Family. I sould be interested if you have more on the Moye side. Feel free to email me at ranr1955 at aol.com.

i am now very curious as to the peavy/moye connections. I read a previous post about a Frances Moye being somebody's gggrandmother and they were lookin for the peavy/moye connection. My gggrandfather was RL Moye, whose mother was Frances Cone Moye, daughter of Nelson Moye. Frances had my gggrandfather out of wedlock and his 1959 obit lists his parents as J.C. (?) and Frances Cone Moye. I'm curious as to whether this man J.C. was a Peavy. Frances was never married and had 3 other children, Rose, Clayton Lee, and Ellen.

I read daddy's notes again and if my guess is correct, francis cone moye-daughter of nelson moye-had my gggrandfather, Rodasier Lafayette Moye, with a man J.C.(whose last name was not listed)and this man, J.C. may very well be the Peavy you are looking for. If that is true, this actually means that R.L. Moye was given his MOTHER's last name (moye) and not his father's. And that means he should've been a Peavy, not a moye. This J.C. was listed as having a wife named Edy.

my dad has VERY extensive geneology research on our family (moye) and i was reading a journal of his the other day and came across something he'd written about his grandfather's parents. His understanding was that his grandfather Rodasier Lafayette Moye, was the product of unmarried parents. But his obit from April 16, 1959 shows his parents as J.C. and Frances Cone Moye. But daddy's records indicate that Nelson Moye was his father, my dad's ggrandfather, my gggrandfather. He never found out anything about the Peavy's. Also at the time of my dad's research, the 1880 census did not even list the existence of R.L., or his mother or three of her children, Rose "sissie", Clayton Lee, and Ellen. I hope this helps and if it does that means we are related!

My great grand mother Kate E. Peavy (married James Gresham)
Olis D Peavy washer younger brother. Most of the family lived in Decatur, Tucker, Cross Keys all in the metro-Atlanta area.

His mother was Willie M (Mae or Maie) she had a small farm in the Cross Keys area. She played the organ at the Peachtree Baptist Church, she is buried behind the church.

I you have any information on Olis other family members I am having trouble taking the family tree back from this point.

Looking for ancestors, especially parents, of Hunathan (Hugh Nathan, H.N.) Peavy/Peavey/Pevie, b. abt 1812 NC. m. Mary E., sons Lazarus Benjamin b. abt 1836 and Levi b. abt 1844.

Hunathan lived in Northwest Twp, Brunswick Co in a community called Byrdville a few miles east of Lake Waccamaw NC (now part of Columbus Co NC) May have also lived earlier in New Hanover, Bladen, and Duplin counties.

Listed in 1860 Fed census Brunswick Co NC as
H.N. Peavy age 48 occupation blacksmith
Mary E age 45
Lazarus age 23
Levi age 17
Laura age 10

Have copies of Brunswick Co deeds (1785-1867) that also include other Peavy names--Nehemiah, Joshua, Barkly, Melven, Charles and John.

Willa or Willie Mae Peavy lived in Atl. (Tucker, Brookhaven & Cross Keys) She is burred in the Peachter Baptist Church Cemetery. Her daughter Kate was born in 1885 she lived in the same area. Kate married James H "Paps" Gresham, they had four children: James, John Roy, Willa Mae, and William A.

My g.g.g.grandfather Willis A. THARP b.1806 second marriage was to Mary Ann PEAVY b.1844. Both were born in Georgia and were in Precinct 12, Henry, Alabama 1870 with children Ausborn Tharp, Arrenia Tharp, Elias P Tharp, Isabella Tharp, Willis W Tharp.
Willis had two sons and one daughter Willis b. 1828, Joseph b.1835, Elizabeth b.1839. Willis had a son Joseph F. THARP b.1856 Alabama who ended up in Kaufman, Texas then to Grand Saline, Van Zandt, Texas in 1920. This is where I was born in 1951. Could any PEAVY's be kin to Mary Ann from Georgia that came to Van Zandt, Texas

I have been to the cemetery where William B PEAVY and Amanda CLEMENTS are buried. Cemetery is Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, Dooly CO, GA. Dates on headstone are...William Jyly 17, 1867-Oct 6, 1926 and Amanda Oct 27, 1860-June 26, 1942. They had 7 children.

William parents were Bryd Y b 1817-Aug 26, 1875 he died suddenly at his home near Eureka, Dooly, GA. Mary Luezella IVEY she died in 1942.

Looking for information on Anna Adams, daughter of Richard Harris Adams and Ida Mae Brim Baumgardner, Missouri. Believe she married Mr. Peavy, divorced, married someone else, and then married Mr. Peavy again. Don't know if they had children, or anything about them. Just know that she was born in Missouri, two of her brothers have been buried in Malden, MO. Those brothers are Robert E. Adams and James Adams. Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I have contacted you before regarding my grandfather, James Meridy Pevy (later changed to James Marion Pevy). His father was supposed to have been James Albert Pevy and his grandfather was supposed to have been Andrew Jackson Pevy, according to my aunt. There is a tree for a James Albert Pevy, but they are saying he died in 1931 and my great-grandfather died when my grandfather was 6, according to what he told us. He said his mother died when he was 2 - and the wife listed for the James Albert Pevy in the Louisianna family tree is supposed to have passed away a few years before her husband. I'm at a dead end and trying to figure out some way to tie our family into the Pevy tree somewhere. My grandpa was 5'8", bright blue eyes, red hair, fair complexion, average weight, and caucasian.

My grandfather was James Marion or Meridy Pevy and his father was supposed to have been James Albert Pevy, a rancher from Paris, Texas. Since my great-grandfather and his wife both died before my grandpa was 6, my grandpa ended up on his own as a boy and made his way across Texas to Brownsville, where he met and married my grandmother.

I have been trying to link our family from my grandfather back through history and haven't been able to make any progress at all, in terms of nailing down anyone about whom I am positive. However, in researching the Paris, Texas census of 1880 I found a family of Pevys living there with there on a ranch with children and servants. There was one child by the name of Isaac Pevy. Here are the members of the family:

I just thought I would mention this because the oldest son is an Isaac and that would indicate that name as a family name. One of these boys in the family could have been my great-grandfather. We always thought my great-grandfather's name was James Albert Pevy, but in talking to living relatives, nobody is actually sure about that name. He could have been one of these boys.

As I previously mentioned, my grandfather's original name was James Meridy Pevy, but he changed it later on to James Marion Pevy. His father was a cattle rancher in Texas, according to what he had told us. His mother died when he was 2 and his father died when he was 6, leaving him in the charge of the ranch foreman, who proceeded to beat the living tar out of my grandpa. When he was 8 he ran away from the ranch and never returned.

I found a 1920 census from Puerto Rico in which one of the people is named "Panlerin Artvin Pevy Y Meridy" and I can't help but notice that both the name Pevy and Meridy are mentioned.

If any of you have ideas about this, I would greatly appreciate your tips or suggestions.

I'm researching the connection between the Peavy's & Moye's of Dooly County Georgia. Any information that you may have about the connection between these two family would be appriciated. My gg-grandmother was Francis Moye, Daughter of Nelson & Mary Moye. Francis(born 1847) never maried but had children in 1875 & 1881 that were possibly Fathered from a Peavy man.

Her name was Savilla, Daughter of Peter Peavy and Vivinah AArons. All of her descendants are listed on the internet under parker. Peter was the son of Dial Pavey, Sr., who was the son of Joseph T and Jane Dial Pavey.

The L.L. Pevy in the 1910 census was Lon or Lenardos Peevey, 1839-1927, son of Judge Isaac Peevey of Barry County, MO. Lon married Martha J., a widow with one child after the census of 1870 and they had 9 chilren together. He moved west, became a lawman and died in or near Abilene in 1927.
