Hi,

Sarah Louvenia Murphy was born in the month of May in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. She was my great-great grandmother on my Mom's side.

Sarah was married to Abram GAA. Peavy on or about 14 April 1870. She died in Van Zandt County, Texas on or about 17 June 1923.

They has a son, my great grandfather, Allen Elias Peavy who was born on 25 March 1871 and died 09 January 1949.

Hope this helps. I am researching the Peavy family line also. The above information is from my mother who is still living and other Peavy relatives.

Edward,

Hi, I do not know if this information will help, but my grandmother's name was Susie Peavy Abbitt, she was born May 8, 1897 and died in July 1975. She married Metz Abbitt. These records are in the Minden Louisiana Courthouse. At one time I actually had a copy of their marriage certificate. She was 18 and he was 29. There is a mention of a Sumpter Peavy, don't really know who that was.

Hope this will help you. If you have any questions email me at lolane@shreve.net.

Sincerely,

I am seeking information on relatives on my father's side. My father's name was Jim (not James), my uncle was Roy Peavy, my other uncle was Clyde Peavy, my aunt was Gladys Peavy. My father married Jacqueline Barbara Neel. Their children were Lorita Gail, June, Alton Lynn, Debra Kay, David Wayne, and Sharon Renee. Roy married Gertrude (Gertie) Graham. Their children were Wynelle, Graham, and Audelle. To my knowledge Clyde never married. Any information would be appreciated as I do not know my grandfather's or grandmother's name, birth or death dates, or birthplaces.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The Peavy's I am kin to were from around Minden and Germantown Colony, which is, I think just North of Minden. My grandmother was Susie Peavy, I do not know who her sisters or brothers were. I found a lot of records in the Minden Courthouse. Marriages and all sorts of things. You may want to check in there to see if there were any relations.

Also, if you get on the internet and check under Minden, Louisiana you will find a history about the Germantown Colony. You can email the person that has this information.

I am looking up a lot of information on the Peavy side of my family, if I run across anything I will let you know.

Good Luck in your search!

Till next time.

My grandfather was Elvie Allen Peavy born in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma.
His father was George Washington Peavy birthplace unknown but died in Coweta Oklahoma.
George's father was John Allen Peavy a civil war vet. who apparently enlisted in Arkansas
in 1863. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks

The first Peavy/Peevy families in Vernon-then Rapides Parish, La were John William, James F. and Joshua A Peevy, their mother Martha and some of her children. I have a lot of the early generations from those brothers-not much on the latest ones. Contact the Vernon Historical Society at the History Museum or just the library-there are a bunch of Peavy/Peevy researchers still around and they would be happy to help. Louise Troth

I am not sure which one you are looking for-the first John Peavy/Peevy to move to Rapides Parish, now Vernon, was John William and his wife Caroline Coon. His brothers Joshua and James and their grandchildren all seemed to use the same names over and over. See my message above for further contacts. Louise Troth

I did not know Susie Peavy so I don't know if she was indeed a Pursey or Pursley. I appreciate your response to my request, though.

My ggrandfather was William F Peavy. He had two sons that I know of my grandfather, James Minor Peavy and Joshua Peavy. Joshua Peavy never married and James married Meller Blackwell of Simpson, La. James and Meller had three children, Iva, Jay, and Hazel. Iva married Henry Free, Jay married Delia Williams, and Hazel married Almon Walters. Jay Peavy was my father and we lived in Slagle, La. Iva and Hazel are buried at Pine Island Cemetary in Simpson, La. Jay is buried in the Leesville Cemetary.
