Peacock's from Scotland & England

I have been researching my grandmother's (Jane Waugh Oliver Smailes Platt) family for some time. Her grandmother was born in Yetholm, Scotland and her grandfather in Jedborough, Scotland. They moved at some time to Alnwick, Northumberland, England. Her name was Jane Peacock according to my grandmother and his was James Oliver. One of their sons was Edward.
I even have a postcard with a picture of 3 people on it and one of them is identified as Grampa Peacock.
Can anyone shed light on this family?

Hi Di,

We do have a number of Thomas's in the family, however not the one your looking for. Our's were mainly farmers and publicans in the Scorton area.
Hi Julie,
I was looking through the message boards and was amused to find your Peacock family. I'm sure we don't have any connection as our Peacock's originated in Ireland, but I was amused as I was a Peacock who married at Danby. My husband's family are from Lincolnshire.
It's great fun researching all the various branches.
Happy hunting!
Bev Danby

Peacock Records

I was “gifted” with a box of genealogy having to do with one of my family lines after a researcher passed away. In the box is also a lot of other family lines that aren’t mine. (2 pages)

The ones below seem to be grouped together as I've grouped them. I would presume that these files in the groups would go to a researcher as a unit.

Group 1:
Smith – Thomas Leslie Smith, Missouri, born Pittsylvania Co, Va to John Wesley Smith and Sally Saunders Claytor Leftwich
Leftwich – Bedford Co., Va.
Gregory – includes Minter, Adair Co., Ky, other Ky counties, Powhatan Co, Va., John Gregory Rev War Vet, (quite a bit of research)
Minter – Fayette County, Ky, Powhatan Co, Va.
AB or B Blood groups for Sussex Stennings, Stoners, Peacocks or Roses

My grandfather, Arthur Edward Stenning 1914 - 2004, had a notably Meditteranean appearance and AB blood. As far as I can trace our ancestry among the above 4 surnames they all seem to be Sussex local agricultural labourers. So where did the B come from? If I can find which relatives of the above surnames share the AB or B blood it might help spot where it "crept it". Help please!
Looking for connections to Arthur Stenning 1879-1964, Caroline Stoner, Fanny Mathilda Peacock or (Ester) Emily Rose.

Peacocks of MA/VT>Saratoga NY

I am looking for information about HIRUM PEACOCK and am trying to establish that he is father of Susan Peacock of Saratoga NY.

HIRUM was born abt 1800 in MA according to probate papers of his father. Census records of his brother list VT as POB. As such, he must have been born in MA and reared in VT. Prior to 1830 he moved to Charlton Saratoga NY. The only mention of him is in the 1830 Saratoga NY census.

1830 census Charlton Saratoga NY
1,u5 (James) 1,20to30 (Willis) 1,30to40 (Hiram) F 1,u5 (Mary?) [2, 5to10 Charlotte? Susan) 1f, 30 to40 (the names in parentheses are all speculation)

His younger brother Wills is listed in the 1840 and 1850 Saratoga NY census. Willis moves to WI. I am not sure about his sister Sophia

There are 3 Peacock persons that are unaccounted for in Saratoga. Lucy born 1833 per 1850 census, Charlotte born 1821 per cemetery record, and a James Peacock born 1835 per the 1855 Tyrone census.

Perhaps Hiram died and they are his children.

It is my belief that Hirum is somehow related to the James/Sarah Pixley Peacock of Greenfield NY and Benjamin Stone Peacock of Addison VT.

I have no source for who might be the father of my Susan Peacock. The only facts are that she was born in VT and married in Charlton NY. Her father was born in MA and her mother born in VT. I have accounted for all the Peacocks in Saratoga Co except for a Hirum Peacock in the 1830 Charlton NY Census.

Hopefully someone can provide me with additional information to prove or disprove my hunch.

Thank you, Moria
mclean811@aol.com

P.S. Thanks Laurie for your help and encouragement.

Debra if you happen to run across the name Ansel Peacock , his father, let me know. I think Ansel dropped out of the Sky. every one has looked and looked for him. Also Henry Allen Peacock was supposed to have did carpentry work in Oklahoma, but have never known the town. His wife Harriett Vermell (Peacock) Peacock did not go with him, but always lived in Dublin. I have a death certificate from Oklahoma for Matthew. Lea

Hi I'm trying to find out more about my father's mother's family, some of whom came from the Newby Wiske/Danby Wiske area. I have a Thomas Peacock, born 1828 in Sowerby - parents were James and Mary. Any links with your family tree? Dad always said there was someone from Crab Tree Farm at Newby Wiske but I can't link them to any of the others I've located yet!!
Di

Arthur was the son of John Thomas Peacock and the brother of Caroline, Bertie and Fred Peacock and had a dog called Major. My father Derek Peacock was Fred's son, and recently passed away on 10 May, 2009. I am trying to locate the children, grand-children and possible great, grand-children of Arthur, I believe he had TWO sons Arthur born in 1923 and Howard born in 1929. I last met Howard in 1972 when dealing with the Estate of Bertie Peacock. I have been completing the PEACOCK family tree for about 4 years now and any information would be greatly appreciated and I would love to meet family members. My aunt Anne Dawson re Peacock and her daughter Emma Heal live in the environs of Stockton-on-Tees and Yarm.

Dear Julia.
This is years later, so I hope you are still there. In my family there is a John Peacock (b.1737) who married a Rebecca (1769-1828).They had a daugter Rachel Peacock (1769-1828)and she is listed as beeing from Danby, and as a "Friend" ie a quaker. She married a Thomas Weather-I-ll (not Weather-E-ll)(1765-1840) His family is from around Easington and Staithes a little north of Danby.
I wonder if there is any connection to you. I remember seeing a marriage certificate between a Benjamin Peacock and a ? Unthank at a relatives many yrs back. This was a quaker certificate. One would think, that the amount of Peacocks around Danby can't be that enormous given that it is thinly populated farmland. Hope you see this.

Penelope Jane Peacock, looking for info

Hi! I'm looking for info on the Peacock line of my family. My grandmother (Helen Katharine Hayes Looney) always said that her grandmother Penelope was a full-blooded Shawnee. My mother wants me to look into her family tree, but so far I've not been able to find much. Conversely, I've found tons on my father's Mallow lineage! :)

Grandma Helen's (7/7/13 - 9/1/98) parents were Clara Mae Peacock (7/15/1874 - 9/9/64) and Verner Hayes (7/12/1870 - 1957). Clara's parents were Josephus Peacock (Apr 1848 - 8/12/18) and Penelope Jane (Apr 1853 - 12/6/32). All of them were born in Ohio.

The children of Penelope & Josephus were: Franklin (1872), Clara (1874), Lucy (1876), Effie (1878), and Charles Howard (3/3/80-9/6/27). Charles is the only one I've found much on. He married Emma May Bennett McKeever (2/17/70 - 1/2/63) and they had Effie M Peacock Severs (1901-1990).

Can anyone help me find info on Penelope Jane Peacock??
