George,
Thanks for help. Here's what I have on Mary C. Spurlock:
She was b. Jul 1850 in AL d/o Samuel Spurlock & Mahaly Bedgood ( 7th child & youngest daughter). In 1850 she was in Butler Co. AL, 1860 in Henry Co. AL, 1870 in Dale Co. AL and 1880 in Covington Co. AL
Her older sister Nancy Spurlock Bedgood (my line) was a war widow and in 1870 Mary C. and son Jackson 9 months are living with her. In 1880 she's still living with Nancy but now has a daughter Eller.
Obiviously Mary C.'s husband, Mr. Hughes was still alive in 1872 as Eller was b. in 1873.
If we can find Hughes connection I do have descendants of Jackson James Hughes & his 1st wife Josephine V. Carter by whom he had 5 children and then had 6 children by his 2nd wife Sintha Mint . Jackson and most of his family seemed to have stayed in Covington Co. AL.
