Hello, I saw your reply and I'm so glad to hear from you. Edith Garrison, born June, 1868 in Kansas was the daughter of Charles M. Garrison and his second wife Clarissa A. Hoskinson. Edith Garrison was raised by her grandparents Riley M. and Martha (Fisher) Hoskinson in Bainbridge Island, Washington. A lady told me that in the Civil War pension files is an Edith G. Peabody/Edith G. Wood, widow of Carlton A. Peabody.
The 1900 census of Kitsap County, Washington lists Edith with her second husband John Wood and her son Hector C. Peabody, born April, 1887 in Oregon, and Edith's two children to her second husband. Hector C. Peabody's father was born in Massachusetts and his mother was born in Kansas.
I found an entry for Carlton Augustine Peabody in "Our Family Tree" in a rootsweb website. Carlton was born Dec. 31, 1858 in Topsfield, Mass. and died March 22, 1888 in Fort Klamath, Oregon. Carlton was the son of Jacob Symonds Peabody and Eliza Mary Chapman.
Does this information match up with your great-grandfather? Are you descended from Carlton's son Hector C. Peabody or was Carlton married previously to someone else before he married Edith Garrison?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you. It's wonderful to know that someone else is actually interested in this family.
Sincerely, Carolyn Clark:
