I am Juan José Peña originally from Las Vegas, New Mexico. Our ancestry in the Americas seems to start back with Don Gabriel de la Peña, who fought with Hernán Cortez in the conquest of Mexico. He later settled in Zacatecas, Mexico, where our ancestor Francisco Gabriel de la Peña lived. His son, Baltazar Francisco came to Santa Fé, New Mexico around 1693. He had a son, José Miguel de la Peña who in turn had a son José Miguel de la Peña II, who founded Peña Blanca, New Mexico. Here, I lose track, but the closes ancestor I have identified, Domingo de la Peña's wife was from Peña Blanca, and he came to Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1836 or 1837. He had at least 2 sons, Teodoro and Manuel. Teodoro, my great grandfather had 7 sons, Luis, Federico, Eisabel, Eufemio, Nestor, Felipe and Vicente. I am descended from Federico Peña, my grandfather and I have 2 children, Federico Ezequiel Peña Cervantes and Margarita María Peña Blea. I will post the names of the other family members as soon as I figure out how to use the geneological tree. Saludo Primos Primos Peña a todos. Atentamente, Juan José (de la) Peña.

This man who owns this book store sent me this. One of my relitives was named AUGUSTIN DE LA PENA.SO BELOW
IS WHAT HE SENT ME,THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE SOME HELP TO YOU.
SEE YA

The De La Pena of my book company was Sergent Juan De La Pena who lived in
Santa Fe New Mexico (in the house that I once owned) and he retired from
the Mexican army in 1846, just before the U. S. invasion led by General
Kearney. He hanged himself in 1880 and his ghost remained at the house.
I know nothing of later De La Penas.

Esimado Billy:

Thanks for the information. I am just beginning to expand the family tree, and the information may be useful as I spread the brances to cover more and More family members. What I believe is our family line, with a long break in between which I need to fill in, and which you may have read, is:

Juan de la Peña & Catalina Martín(from La Viana, Spain)
<>
Aparicio de la Peña & Beatriz Alonso(from La Viana, Aparicio fought as a soldier with Hernán Cortez in the conquest of Mexico and later settled in Mexico City.)
<>
Juan de la Peña & ?
<>
Here is where the gap occurs, but I belive they were my family's direct ancestors.
<>
Baltazar Francisco de la Peña & Lucía Gutiérrez
<>
José Miguel de la Peña & María Francisca Rael de Aguilar
<>
Jose Miguel de la Peña II & Dolores Martín
<>
José (or Juan) Domingo de la Peña & Mónica Gallegos (a Comanche woman)(don José Domingo was married 3 times and he had children with all 3 wives)
<>
(José) Teodoro Peña & Margarita López
<>
(various older brothers and possibly some sister) Federico Peña, Luis Peña, Eisabel Peña, Eufemio Peña, Nestor Peña, Felipe Peña, Vicente Peña
<>
Descendants of the brothers (and perhaps sisters)
My family is descended from Federico Peñ

I am related to Jose Domingo Pena. I found him in the 1790-1823-1845 Colonial Census p.234 in Las Vegas in 1845. He is married to Ma Juana Chaves. She is 14 years younger than he is so I assumed he had been married before. Also living next to him is an Isabel Pena and Ramon Pena. If this is the Domingo Pena you are looking for please let me know, we cannot link him to a father. We also have more information on his decendents. Thank you.
