Looking for the descendents of Jose Pena and his wife Teodora Benivides Pena. They lived in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. Some of their children were Carpio, my ggreat grandfather, and these brothers I found listed in the Catholic Marriage records Andres, Marcos, and Asiano. All were born around 1850-1860. Any help greatly appreciated.

I too, am searching for my Pena roots. My ggrandmother Margarita Pena was born, from what I understand, in Las Cruces, NM. in 1891(?). Her mother's name was Juanita Pacheco. I have no name for her father. I do know she is 100% Pueblo Indian. Her family moved to somewhere in or near El Paso, Tx. She also had a sister named Sara. She married a Jose Moreno. I am really trying to find out which Pueblo tribe she came from, as there are many. I have a copy of her school records from Sherman Institute in Riverside, Ca., where she and her sister attended in 1904. If you have any information that could help in my search it would be most appreciated.

My Pena's were of Mexican/Spanish decent. I wish you luck with your search. Don't give up. Try the New Mexico Gen Web page. It may help.
