Hello everyone,

I am trying to find some information some family members who I have been told emigrated to USA in 1905. I was informed that they went through Ellis Island, but have found no records when I search on their site (although I am rather new at this so may have missed something).

My relatives names are Phoebe (born 1859) and her children Lillian (b1892) and Violet (b1900). We believe she travelled with one more of her children (Harvey or Alice). The last name was Payne. Phoebe left a husband and older children in England - we don't know why but do know for sure that they went. I've found records of Violet in USA and Lillian in Canada - but can find no record of how they actually got there. Violet's records show that she arrived in 1905 but no more than that. I've search all passenger lists I can find, with various spellings (and even Phoebe's maiden name, Copping).

I would really appreciate any tips you might have. These are my mum's aunts and she'd love to know what happened and if she has any family there still.
