I'm trying to find my indian heritage by Joseph Payne
I was told he came to Baton Rouge, La. around 1886, he
married Anna Berthelot who was the daughter of the storekeeper my gr grandfather worked for. He was full bloodied indian. I was told my grandmother Mary Louisa Payne was from Mississippi. Mary married a Schutz, he died and she married Walter W. Ward around 1916. Joseph
had a brother named John who helped build Plank Rd. with
planks in Baton Rouge, La.
