Hello There,

My Grandfather John Alfred Payea was also born in Kingston Ontario in the township of Palmerston in Frontenac County. He went to England to fight in WWI and married and english women and that's where the english side of the Payea family originated. I've actually emigrated to Ontario Canada from England.

Hi all,

Dave is my Cousin... but I'm left in the UK.

Our Grandfather, John Alfred Payea was born 1898
His father was George Payea born between 1854-1864
All in the Township of Palmerston, Frontenac (very near where Kingston, ON is today).

Our Grandfather had a younger brother refered to as Francis (Frances?) who supposedly visited the Uk once. We have no details on Francis... is this the missing link? The ages and location fit so it's very probable....

How are James & Willy related?

Just checking this out with Dave's Dad to get things straight.

Francis visited the Uk in approx 1942 (During WW2) and was stationed in Lewes and was aged c. 30+ this was our grandfathers Nephew.

James Frances may well have been his father.. Thus our great uncle.

Aparently, there were two Payea families in Kingston at the time so it may or may not be the case.

Anyway there's a definite relationship there....

Danny

Just thought you'd like to know that when we went the to Kingston Public Library, we found the 1901 Census and TWO families of Payea were listed there. We needed the info for one of the families so hopefully yours is the other link???? It was actually listed as PAYCE- obviously misspelt- but it was definitely the info we needed!!!! Palmerston seems to no longer be on the map but was definitely part of Frontenac County at the time and was very close to Kingston.

I have tracked down the Church where my father Willie Hilyard Payea was babtised. In the Babtism Records James
Francis Payea is listed as his father. In addition a new name,
listed as his aunt- a Mrs Lena Payea- is on the papers. As to
how she is related is unknown. The church is St James Church,156 Barrie St, Kingston. Ontario. If any one has some
information in relation to this information, please let me know.
