I found that Arron Paxon (Paxton) applied for a Pension. I will try to find it at NARA, but doubt if it will have any info. on his parents. He was 40+ years old when he served in Co. I, 165th PA Infantry (Drafted Militia) for nine months from Nov 1862 to July 1863. Will let you know if I find anything.

That is very interesting news. I sent out several years ago and received copies of Aaron muster files. I made additional copies and gave to the Adams County Historical Society in Gettysburg, PA. I had no idea that Aaron applied for a pension. He did get sick and spend a couple months in the Chesapeake Hospital. So, this pension information is very interesting to me. Please let me know how you make out. Thanks!

Found his application that he filed 3 Oct 1881. He was a Pvt. in Co. I, 165th PA Inf. (drafted militia.)
He went in 6 Nov 1862 and was discharged 28 Jul 1863 (served 9 months during Lee's invasion of PA at Gettysburg). His application alleges chronic diarrhea he said was contracted while in Lynchburg/Suffolk/Falmouth Junction area in Virginia around May 1, 1863. Said he was in the Regimental Hosp. for 4-5 weeks at Suffolk and at Hampton, then sent to hosp. near Fortress Monroe--there for another 2 weeks, then sent home and discharged at Gettysburg. Treated for chronic diarrhea. Original claim made at Idaville residence in 1881, then in 1884 listed residence as Hunter's Run. Did not provide enough info and first app. was rejected. Subsequently made another attempt, but died while it was going through the review process. Never received any pension. Pension application # 430736 at NARA in Washington, DC.as of 24 Mar 15.
