Searchng for all descendants of Paxmans of England, includ-ing those who immigrated to the USA, Canada, Australia, etc. and their descendants.
During 2002 I spoke on the phone with almost all USA and Canada Paxman families (with the surname Paxman) listed at Qwestdex.com. I know of three major lines in the USA and one major line in England (Suffolk and Essex counties) and have several thousand linked names so far. I have names of many from England who are not yet linked to one of the major lines. Am continuing an effort begun by my gguncle, James Walter Paxman, in the 1930's. Please write!

I am a Paxman, here in the USA. My fathers grandfathers name was James Walter Paxman he was born 12 Oct. 1861. I was wondering if you have found anything on William Paxman born about 1700. We have nothing on him or his father and was wondering if you by chance have anything. Please email me back and let me know my email is sjohnson@nebonet.com Thanks a bunch

Hi another Paxman here but I’m from South Africa, I only know of one group of Paxman's here, my grandfather (John F Paxman) moved here (pasted away recently) in the 1930s - 1940s after one of the world wars, there are 10 Paxman's here that I know of. Cheers Craig.

Hi Collette,

Thanks for the reply to my post at Rootsweb.

Were your mom's parents John Charker and Linda Paxman? If so, can you give me their email address or phone number? If that's the right set of Paxman grandparents, I have information that goes back to a Johannis Paxman, born about 1680, possibly at Withersfield, Suffolk, England.

If these are not your Paxman grandparents, please let me know who they were, and I'll see if I find a match. I have two databases of Paxmans: my line - about 10, 400 names; misc. Paxmans - about 6, 600 names.

Look forward to hearing from you.

BTW, my wife and I are currently living in Germany and are serving as LDS missionaries.

It explained the origin of the name.It was actually invented back in the 13th century by a politician who wanted a name that people would respect and look up to hence the "Pax" which is Latin for "peace" he then then threw "man" into the mix and off he went leaving us all puzzled for ever more.Anyway enjoy being who YOU are and keep researching, theres heaps of interesting stuff out there.
