I am looking for Pawelczak who lived in Greenpoint (Brooklyn, New York) in the early 1900's. One of the daughters of this family (Marcella) married Ludwik (Ludoviscus) Giza in 1908 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

Are you still looking?

My great uncle came over with some people who were going to Laurel Hill Queens in December 1909 to join Ludwik Giza. They all came from Chajkovska in the Russian part of Poland. I would be happy to share links, info, etc.

My grandparents, Peter Kowalczyk and Julia Zawrotniak, were married on May 21, 1916 at the Holy Cross Church in Maspeth, New York. The marriage was witnessed by an Antonia Giza.

I haven't been able to locate Chajkovska. Can you help?

Hi,

Here's a link to a map that shows the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn.

http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=UTF-8&gfns=1&q=greenp...

If the link doesn't work, Google "Greenpoint Brooklyn" and you should find another link.

Going East on Greenpoint Avenue, just across Newtown Creek is Calvary Cemetery. The neighborhood to the East of the cemetery is Laurel Hill. A lot of immigrants started in Laurel Hill, then moved to Greenpoint when they could afford to do so.
