Loving Mother Mary Pavalos, 87,
a life long resident of Ambridge entered into eternal rest on Nov. 21 2009 at her daughter's home in Erie, Pa. with her family at her side. Mary was born to the late Anna Lapinski and Frank Skindzier September 27, 1922 in Pittsburgh. Mary attended Ambridge High School. She was a home maker who loved visitors and welcomed everyone into her home. She moved to Erie, Pa. in 2005 to be near her daughter. She loved her family and friends and will always be remembered as a friendly and loving woman. Mary was a faith filled woman who relied on God for her strength. Our lives have been changed, not because we have lost her, but because she has touched each and every one of us in a special way. She will be deeply missed but will remain forever in our hearts. Mary was a life long member of Good Samaritan Parish (St. Stanislaus) where she attended grade school. She was a member or the Harmony Township Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the Ambridge VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Stanislaus Rosary Society. Mary was a loving mother and role model to her daughter Mary Ann (William) Matlock, Erie, who were her care givers with whom she resided the last several months. Mary was a devoted mother to her son Frank (Barbara) Sharpless, Santa Fe, N.M. She was a doting grand mother to her grand children; Ryan Matlock, Pittsburgh; Nathan Matlock, Pittsburgh; and Jillian Matlock, Chicago. She was a loyal and caring sister to her brother Edward Skinger, Erie (formerly of Ambridge). Mary is further survived by a sister in law; Irene Lehocky, Aliquippa. Aunt Mary is also survived by her numerous nieces and nephews in the Skinger, Sharpless and Pavalos families. Mary is survived by a multitude of friends to include: Sophie Kapron, Dolores Dennis and Sr. Marise Hrabosky, CDP; the family at Benetwood Apartments that made Mary feel at home away from Ambridge; Sisters: Pat, Marla, Audrey and Ann; friends: Rose, Charlotte, Stan and Emily, Lu, Irmela, Ann, Lois, Evelyn, Millie, Roni and the entire Benetwood family. She was preceded in death by 2 husbands: Herbert W. Sharpless, who was the love of her life and Charles Pavalos, who was her life companion that she grew old with. Mary was also preceded in death by her son, Raymond Skindzier, a sister, Frances McLaughlin, brothers: Joseph Skindzier and Frank Skindzier II. The family would like to thank Mary's loving care givers who became her friends: Shannon and Nancy; Dr. Christi Ray and Nurse Mike; Diane, Renee, Pearlie, Mike and VNA Hospice of Erie; Carrie, Loureen, Sabrina and Comfort Care; also Darlene and Linda who cared for Mary's spiritual needs. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kasperâ€"Hahn Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 547 8th Street Ambridge. Mass of Christian Burial at Good Samaritan Parish on Wednesday 11 a.m. Burial at Garden of the Four Gospels at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
