Patricia Louise Pauer, age 58, passed away on January 17, 2003, after a 10-year battle with emphysema. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 3, 1944, the daughter of Walter G. Pauer, now of Steuben, Wisconsin, and Bernice Reiter Pauer of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. At age 16 she graduated from Wells High School in Chicago, the class of 1961. Before moving to Rio Rancho in 1982, she worked in the medical records department of the Veterans Administration Research Hospital in Chicago, and attended Mayfair Junior College in 1976. Patricia was the sister of Peggy Ann Rogers, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Eric Walter Pauer, of Chicago, and aunt to her sister's and brother's children; Christopher Rogers of Durance, Michigan, Peter Roberts of Las Vebas, Nevada, Amy Dillenueze of Quebec, Canada, ANna-Marie Daniel and Sarah Baich of Glendale, Arizona, and Alexander and Bradley Pauer of Chicago. Patricias was also grand-aunt to the children of her nices and nephews: Nathan, Daniel and Heather Robers of Durand, Michigan, ian and Elliot of Las Vegas, Nevada, Charles Dillenueze of Quebec Canada and Kadin Rogers of Phoenix, Arizona. After moving to Rio Rancho, Patricia obtained her A.R.T. and was employed as a medical records director by the former Heights General Hospital at Kirtland Air Force Base. She visited fifteen European countries and also worked in Saudi Arabia. Later she earned her Ph.D. in public health from Columbia State University in Metarie Louisiana in 1998. The title of her dissertation was "From Addiction to Change" the thesis of her master's degree was "Safety in the Workplace." Both degrees were given by the university "not only for her scholastic achievement, but for her life's hard work and achievements."
