Hi! To all Patak's and Patyks and ancestors, please email me at amy5595@yahoo.com or amypatyk@netscape.com. Please try the spelling patyk also. You may find much more, because our familt change the pronunciation when they came to America to- get this- make it easier for the american to say our polish last name. pat-ick is easier to say than puh-tack, which it originally was. please email me, every second I am finding more.

I just read your message on the internet. I was mostly curious about your name being polish. I am also a Patak, but my grandparents came from the Czech Republic, or Moravia as it was called back then. I found one source that traced the name to Jon Potok in Hungary as far back as the year 1530. The name was later changed to Patak when they apparantly migrated to Moravia. I haven't come across the Patak name from a Polish background, however I do know there are a lot of Patak's in the Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York area which is heavily populated with Polish immigrants. I would like to know where your ancestors came into this country and there given names. My grandfather came into Galveston, Texas at around 1895 when he was 5 to 6 years old. Most of my family lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
