Esther (Mountjoy?) was one of my father's sisters. My father was Hubert Otto Pasanen, son of John and Elsa Pasanen. I'm glad you have done some research on my Aunt Esther's father, my grandfather. My Aunt Esther is your grandmother. John Pasanen died before I was born (1957). I feel it an honor to have my grandmother's name. I have also been to Finland, and visited relatives of my grandmother, Elsa. I had no information about my grandfather, John, his family or it's whereabouts in Finland, except for what you've written.

Re: Pasanen-family from Michigan?
My father Carl Pasanen recently passed away and I would like to learn more of his lineage. Hubert Pasanen from Texas who died in 1995 was a relative - unsure of the details though. We visited in the 1980's. My father's father was John Pasanen married to Sigrid Mulari. They had only one child - my father. My father's, father's, father was Otto Pasanen and was married to Elizabeth Bram - each of whom were born in Finland. Otto was their 5th child.

Re: Pasanen-family from Michigan?
If you will provide me your name, I can further my Pasanen family tree research.
I have very limited information. Your father, Carl, had father, John Pasanen (#2), and his father, Otto Pasanen b. 1866, d. 1964 (married to Liisa Brahm) was son of John (Juho) Pasanen (#1) b. 20 Jan 1834 Finland, d. 28 Feb 1906 USA (married to Stina Kopsa b. 31 May 1842, Haapaiarvi, Finland, d. 27 Feb 1920, Pihtiputas, Vassa, Finland). His father was Anti Pasanen (married to Anna Raisanen b. 1799 Finland d. 1 Dec 1874 Finland).
I figure your father, Carl, and my father, Hubert, were related, but I'm not exactly sure the point of connection yet. Do you know?

Re: Pasanen-family from Michigan?
My father had told me that your father Hubert was my father's uncle... possibly my father's, father's (John)brother? My maiden name is Jane Sigrid Pasanen - now Wanberg. My grandfather (John) is buried in the Ontonagon, MI Evergreen Cemetery. According to John's birth certificate, he is a 5th child. I will be holding a service for my father later this summer in Ontonagon - maybe the Cemetery will have information on the other brother's of my grandfather.

Re: Pasanen-family from Michigan?
Thank you for that information. My condolences to you about your father's passing.
Looking again at the tree, I see that my grandfather, John Leonard Pasanen, was brother to Otto Pasanen. Otto is your great grandfather. So, I'm on same descendant level as your father, Carl.

Susan-
I am looking for your father (I believe?) John H. Pasanen, son of Walter Pasanen. I am seeking his information for a Quiet Title Action to Baraga held by your father and his brothers in Baraga County, Michigan.
