The first PAQUIN came to North America in 1672. 99% of all PAQUINs in North America are descendant from him.
When PAQUINs started to travel west from Quebec for the fur trade there was intermarriage with Indians that took place. When these same Frenchmen moved south to Michigan around the St Ignace area the same thing happened.
We have a PAQUIN website
http://afpaquin.org which you are welcome to join for free & then you can browse around our Dictionnaire or family tree to find your ancestors.
Have you tried the early Canadian Census from Manitoba for links, and early American Census for Michigan?
