Mose Paquette m. Olivion, Montreal>MI
My Great Grandfather was Mose Paquette from Montreal Canada, 1870-1949. He married Olivion, 1872-1966, and they migrated to Michigan. Supposedly they went from logging camp to logging camp. Does this match up w/ anything you know? Would be curious to hear!

Re: Mose Paquette m. Olivion, Montreal>MI
Mose Paquette was my great grandfather. I was told his wife's name was Olivine. Not sure of the names of all their children but one. They had a daughter named Emily Paquette in 1912. She was my grandmother. She married a Francis Vanisky, my grandfather. They had three daughters: Joan, Annette, and Sandra Vanisky. Any connections out there?

Re: Mose Paquette m. Olivion, Montreal>MI
I think we're onto to something here - Mose & Olivine Paquette were also my Great Grandparents. I know two of his childrens names; Della and Antone my Grandfather. Emily was also Antone's wife's name. Antone and Emily had 4 children; Charlotte, Antone, Valeria & Richard. Richard Poquette is my father. I'm going to try to find out from Charlotte what her other Aunt's & Uncle's names were. Keep in touch!!

Re: Mose Paquette m. Olivine Bordeaux, Montreal>MI
I have only just started researching my family's history in the past two weeks, and this is the first connection I've been able to make to someone out there!! I can't tell you how wonderful it feels! My nana(Emily), passed away in September of 1997. I spoke with my aunt yesterday. She has an old photograph of the family. I believe there were 13 children in all born to Mose and Olivine. I was able to get some more of the names: Olive, Palmer, Mary, Eva, Rose, Della, Ernest, and supposedly there was a Joseph that died very young. So with Antone and Emily, that leaves the names of 3 that I still don't know. I want so much to find out who Mose and Olivine's parents were. I was told there was an indian connection and also that someone way back married a princess. I know they came from Canada, but I don't know when. My aunt told me that Olivine's maiden name was Bordeaux, and that she was born in France. Please yes, let's keep in touch. I'm anxious to talk with you more. Nice to meet you cousin!!!! Sincerely, Laura Manfrede

Re: Mose Paquette m. Olivine Bordeaux, Montreal>MI
Hi Cuz! Thanks for all of the names. I'm talking to my Aunt Charlotte and I think she'll be able to come up w/ that last 3 names. So far, no one knows anything about Mose or Olivines parents, but we'll keep poking around. The only thing I can tell you is that Palmer, Eva, Della, Ernest & Antone all live/d in Neenah Wisc. Palmer married a gentleman by the name of Kampo.
I'm trying to figure out how my grandfather, Antone became a Poquette from a Paquette - do you know if the other brothers & sisters changed their names also?
Let's definately keep in touch - I'm sure I'll come up w/ more soon!!

Moses Paquette is the son of Moses Paquette & Delphine St. Louis
I believe I can shed some light on this family. Moses Paquette Jr is the son of Mose Paquette and Delphine St. Louis. Moses was my g-grandfather Pauls brother. Moses and Delphine had 11 children that I can find. They are all listed in the Menominee County Census from 1880 on. Moses and Olivi(a) are listed as a family in 1900 with Ernest 1894, Adie 1895, Adele 1897, and Elsie 1899. They resided in Spalding and apparently kept Paquett name because there is Mose Perkett(1864-1957) buried in Spalding with a Julia.

Re: Moses Paquette is the son of Moses Paquette & Delphine St. Louis
Mark: Thank you very much for the information! Question; My Grandfather was one of the 11 children, Antone Poquette. Would you happen to know why they changed their last names from Paquette to Poquette? We didn't even realize the g-grandfolks used Paquette until we found Moses's headstone. Thanks again for the reply.

Re: Moses Paquette is the son of Moses Paquette & Delphine St. Louis
Glad to be of any service. I believe the name change comes from how it was pronounced in America plus the large influx of Canadians to that area with the same name caused a second generation to use different last names. Moses probably kept his since he was a Jr., some in the family went from Paquette to Perket in Spalding. Other families in my history did the same like Lorrain becoming Laurin and Cossette with 5 different spellings.I also correspond with a Moses Sr, relative on another board and he is trying to piece that family together also.

Re: Mose Paquette m. Olivine Bordeaux, Montreal>MI
I am looking for information on Mose Poquette or Paquette who married Julia Perket. Mose took Julia's last name because there were other Mose Poquette's in Spalding, MI. I know Mose's father's name was Peter Poquette and his mother's name was Olivne. Mose had a brother Peter who went back to Ontario to live.

Re: Mose Paquette m. Olivine Bordeaux, Montreal>MI
My line comes off Mose Paquette from Quebec and was married to Delphine St.Louis. They were born in Quebec, married in Quebec and moved to Spalding about 1872. His son Moses Jr. Married an Olivia in 1893. There are many Paquette variations listed in the county cemetary records.
