HADLEY, MASS. — Veronica B. (Duval) Papageorge, 77, of Rocky Hill Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital.

She was born in Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., Jan. 12, 1925, the daughter of the late Francis and Henrietta (LaBarre) Duval.

She attended schools in New York and graduated from the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She worked as a registered nurse for Holyoke Hospital and also for Cooley-Dickinson Hospital. She was a communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley, where she was a choir member and also active in its' Mothers Club and Sunshine Club. She also participated in the Hadley Mens Club suppers.

She leaves her husband of 55 years, John C. Papageorge; two sons, Keith of Hatfield, Mass., and Stephen of Millbrook, N.Y.; three daughters, Valerie Wentzel and Karen Papageorge both of Hadley and Christine DeSouza of New Ulm, Minn.; four brothers, James Duval of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., William Duval of Little River, S.C., Paul Duval of Ellenburg, N.Y., and Lester Duval of Remsen, N.Y.; three sisters, Mary Milendes of LasVegas, Nev., Martha Jones of N. Stonington, Conn., and Gemma Wills of Englewood, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be from Pease Funeral Home, Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. with a liturgy of Christian burial at the church at 9 a.m.

Calling hours are Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
