Hi, So glad to connect with you. I'm not sure if we are related. All my Papa family came to NJ and stayed. Although I do believe that we are all related in some way. My Grandfather, Antonio was born in Avellino (Benevento) in 1899 and came to NJ in 1905. His parents were Giovanni (born 1868) and Assunta Palatella (born around 1870). They came over as a family. That's just one part of the family, I'm sure there are many cousins. I was just in southern Italy because I found other family members. They are all cousins. I'm having a hard time finding Papa's in Italy because the name is so common. There are many Antonio Papa's in Benevento. If you have any more info please let me know. I am so interested. Thanks for getting in touch. Diane

Hi Alison. Yes we are related. Your Great Grandmother is my Aunt Carmela - my father's sister. Gerardo and Maria had 6 children - James (I don't know his Italian name), Carmela, Alexander (Leezon - my father), Lucille (Lucy), John (Giavanni) and Josephine. My father was absent from the family for many years and was the last to marry. Because of his life style we did not get to know our cousins and their families. I have 2 sisters Donna and Alex Ann. I am divorced and have one son Alex Pope, age 27 living in Texas flyin airplanes. My sister Donna has 3 children Linsey Pope (Tweed), Ricky Gonzales, and Tony Gonzales al living in Arizona. My sister Alex Ann has one son Anthony Baskovitz also living in Arizona. Our family moved to Scottsdale in 1975, and we lived very close to Aunt Josie and Uncle Johnny Reda; they had one adopted child Anthony Reda all are deceased. Uncle Jimmy was married to Aunt Gussie but had no children. Both are deceased. Uncle Johnny (deceased) was married to Aunt Mary (Beci) who is alive and well and living in DelRay Beach, Florida near her son. They had 2 sons Gerald (living in Berwyn, IL) and Dickie (married to Susan and living in Boca Raton, Florida). Dickie has 3 children Gina (age 42) living in Chicago, Dickie age 30 living in Boca Raton, and Kathy age 27 living in Boca Raton. Gerald has 2 children Renee Wersching (Pope)living in Chicago, and John Pope (age 42) living in Chicago Suburbs. BTW, I am divorced, age 57 and living in the Chicago Suburbs as well. Kinda cool, huh?
