Hi, I'm Dan Paolantonio from the UK, Great-Grandson of Donato Paolantonio & Agata deDominicis of Pratola Peligna, (Aquilla) in Abruzzi. I don't have much info on my family name & wondered if anyone had any idea which area in Italy it originated. I had previously been told it was actually from Trapani in Sicily, but if any of you guys know anything more, I'd love to hear from you.

My Great-Grandparents emigrated from Abruzzi to the US circa 1900 & had 4 children: Regina, Yolanda, Inez & Domenic (my Grandpa). Will post full details of dates of birth etc next time.

Incidentally you might like to know that it was a Paolantonio who invented the famous 'Harvey Wallbanger' cocktail drink. That was my Grandpa Domenic Paolantonio (AKA Dontato 'Duke' Antone)!

Ciao for now!

Hi Dan. I don't know where the "Paolantonio" name originates but my ancestors are from Agnone and Frosolone, Molise, Italy. Dominico PAOLANTONIO (son of Carmine PAOLANTONIO and Valeriana CATAURA) b.1805, married Lucia Amata RUBERTO (dau. of Egidio RUBERTO and Arcangela ZAMPINO) She was born in 1812. They had 9 children: Giuseppe Nicolo, Anna Maria, Filomena Valeriana, Carmina, Carmine Antonio, Maria Cristina, Giovani Battista, Francesca Maria and Alfonso Mario. Any connections?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, my familys records are a bit 'opaque' pre 1870's, so I can't really 'cross reference' the info you kindly provided. I do know that my great-grandparents (Donato Paolantonio and Agata Dedominicis) were from Pratola Peligna in l'aquila, Abruzzi and emigrated (in their early twenties) to the US circa 1900-1910. My Great-great grandfather was called Dominico Paolantonio, although I am not sure of birth dates etc - he was also from Pratola Peligna. My great-grandparents first setteled in Newark NJ and then in Dunkirk NY, before finally settling in Hartford CT in or around 1916-17.

Sorry I don't have more details, but I am researching & hopefully will be able to turn up more soon.

Ciao for now!
