Aloha Ron, And much Mahalo for the reply back, and the info that you sent. My Great Grand Mother Victoria was already married to another man when I was born and had a different last name. And my Grandmother had passed away when my mother was 10 years old, and my mother passed away when I was 8 years old. So growing up my Great Uncles and Aunty never used the last name of Rodrigues Rente, Rente was the name they went by, And we never met any of the relatives of Joseph Rodrigues Rente, And we missed out on knowing a whole group of family that today we still do not know.

Aloha...Proximity is a factor in maintaining contact with
kin. Jose was listed with the surname of Rodrigues during
the US Census for 1900 and happened to live next door to my
grandmother on the island of Kaua'i. Joaquina was my great-
grandmother's sister who was married to my greatgrandfather
on the paternal side. Jose's son Henry was the same age as
my grandmother. Thus, to this day, kin from Henry's side
remains close and we gather now and then.
