Cathy, Stavros Panagiotakos was my grandfather's uncle. I only have a little more information on him. Were you related to him too?

Penny,

Hi, I was just in Lowell, Dracut, Lawrence, Devens, Massachusetts this past week with my mother-in-law, Maria (Mary Panagiotakos Rodgers) and her son, my husband, David Rodgers. We went to see Maria's brothers and sisters. They are Helena, Stamatina, Kaliope, Evangelina, Panyotes, Vasilios, Cleopatra, and Gregorious. Stavros Panagiotakos was born 8/26/1902 in Laconia Greece and the village was Dirou. He was married to Archondoula Aganastakos DOB 9/14/1902 from Laconia Greece and the village was Pyrgos.
We went to the Lakeview cemetery were Maria's parents are buried. Stavros and his father had a bakery near Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church by Jefferson Street, referred to sometimes as the "Acre". The Panagiatakos Family lived in the Timothy Frye house, which the Frye family lived in until 1898, and then the Keefe family lived in it and finally, the Panagiotakos family lived in it until 1970 when the house was torn down. There is a picture of the house in the Images of America "Dracut" by John Pendergast, copyright 1997. In that same book, on page 75, is a picture of my husband's uncle Greg and his aunt Cleo sitting in the family car. Vasilios' son, Steve Panagiotakos, is a lawyer and a state senator in the state of Massuchusetts. We got to visit him this week and take a tour of the State House. Greg Panagiotakos was a police officer in the Lawrence police department,in the book, The American Century Series, Lawrence Police Department Heroes Wear Blue, page 110. He is retired from the police department, but his son, Mark is an officer in the Lawrence police department with the same badge number as his dad. I also met Stavros Panagiotakos' sister-in-law Jenny Panagiotakos-Poulos. She was married to Stavros's brother, Greg, who died at a young age, I think 34-36. Jenny re-married ? Poulos and the son, Peter, from her first marriage changed his last name to Poulos. Jenny is 92 years young. We got to meet them both. Jenny is my mother-in-law Maria's, godmother. I would love to share information with you. Looking forward to chatting with you again. Thank you for responding to my query. Cathy

Penny:

My great grandmother was Triantafili Kalogera(s) from Ascasa, Greece a village near Sparta (Lakonia). Many of her family (nephews, etc) still reside there. My question to you is as follows:

Triantafyllou Kalogeras came to the USA in 1911. On the ships manifest, she listed That she was going to live with her sister: "T. (or) D. Panayotopoulos who lived at 132 Pearl Street in Baltimore, MD., Obviously the sister was a Kalogeras that married a Panayotopoulos.

By any chance, can you or anyone on this board connect the Panayotopoulos name which very eaisly could be misspelled by the ships crew upon her entry, to your Panagiotakos family?

I do believe there may be a connection since we are all talking about their originating from the same general area in Greece.

Any information would be most appreciated. I could also send you scanned copy of the ships manifest for you to see if you read the horrible handwriting The same as I do.

Sincerely,
Despina Lalas

Hi,

I am married to David Rodgers and his mom is Mary Panagiotakos Rodgers. Most of the Panagiotakos family are still in Mass. My brother in law went to Greece this summer back to where my mother in laws parents were from. Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated.
