Hi Debra - My mother's maiden name is Pama and I've been told that it's origin is from the Netherlands. My grandfather hailed from Abra whose dialect is Ilocano so I presume it is somewhere near or in Iloilo. I'm not quite familiar with the Philippine regions/archipelago. Anyhow, I find it interesting that we could be part Dutch. I'll try to get more info from my aunt.

Hi Patty,

I am from Iloilo which is a province in the central Philippines while Abra is in the North of the Philippines. It is on the island of Panay. People with this surname, as far as I know, originally live in the town of Passi.

I'm from Manapla, Negros Occidental. My dad was the who hailed from Negros. Accdording to him, in earlier times, People who with alst names that starts wiht a "P" usually lived in a Place that starts with "P" also. for "PAMA", it's in PASI, ILOILO.

I always thought that my last name is something of a Spanish origin since my Lolo (grand-dad) has Spanish Blood.

My Dad also told us that there's also a Pama is Bicol who also hailed from Pasi, Iloilo. Recectly, I vacationed in Davao, the cab driver has Pama for a last name. He said that he was from Pasi, Iloilo and been living in Davao for the last 38 years. He said that a lot of Pama also resides in Davao but originally came from Pasi, Iloilo.

I'm from Bicol orignally. We have a Pama clan organization
established in Guinobatan, Albay. I understand from my younger sister that there is a yearly Pama clan event held
at Marcial O. Ranola High School in Guinobatan. I seems that
the first Pama settlers arrived in Guinobatan came from Iloilo Province.
When I was working in Manila years ago, I had a boardmate who was then a working nurse. I became friendly with her and I did mentioned to her that she has very similar face features with my Pama relative back in Bicol. She said she's from Iloilo and her family name is Pama. What a coincidence.
