Going through my cousin's estate, I found a picture labeled 'Palmquist children" taken maybe around 1920ish. I am guessing because of the flapper-like dress the girl is wearing. There is an Oakland address and the name of Gordon.

I have no idea what relationship they have to my cousin. Certainly none to me.

Any of you interested in having this photo?

Rae Deane

i'm taking a chance that you still get notices on responses to your message on ancestry.com considering that it's been 10 years since you posted it. even though your post was brief, i believe that your grandmother was my husbands great grandmother. the jennie augusta palmquist in our tree had a daughter named dorothy ada vosler tuttle kuhn. dorothy had a son named leigh tuttle. leigh had a son named elmer, and i married elmer. i have "played" at this ancestry thing for a few years now, but the last few months i've become addicted (aka obsessed).

Carl Augustus, Olga, Blanche, other siblings

Looking for descendants of this particular Palmquist family unit whose parents emmigrated from Sweden. All children in this Palmquist family were named after Europian Royality. There were five siblings (four girls and one boy). Carl Augustus PALMQUIST was the only son and named after Carl AUGUSTUS of Sweden. Olga PALMQUIST, born about 1896, was named after Grand Duchess Olga of Russia. There were three other sisters, but I do not have my notes in front of me, so will have to correct their names on a followup posting, but I think one was name Blanche, another was "something" Victoria, and perhaps there was a Matilda. Around 1910, Olga Palmquist, age 14, ran off with Charles Wester. They had a daughter born 1911 in Ironwood, Michigan. The Wester family later moved to Colorado. At some time after the death of her infant son (born in Colorado around 1916), Olga took her daughter, left Colorado and her husband, and went to live in Chicago. It is possible she already had Palmquist relatives in the Chicago area.

Larson/Palmquist siblings - Sven August, Nils Johan, Anna Lovisa

I am related to Anna Lovisa Palmquist (birth surname was Larson but changed in America) born 12-2-1832 in Hvena, Kalmar, Smaland, Gotaland, Sweden who married Olof August Olson (birth surname was Birgerson but changed in America) from Christdala, Sweden around 1870/1871 in Kansas. Their children were Hilda Elizabeth and Henry Nathaniel. They lived in Lindsborg, McPherson County, Kansas. All are buried at Elmwood Cemetery.

Nils Johan Palmquist born 3-25-1825 in Sweden was Anna's brother and later lived with Anna in Kansas after his wife Brita Andersdotter died. Nils was a farmer. I only know of a son named Charley/Charles/Carl August. They lived in McPherson County, Kansas. All are buried at Elmwood Cemetery.

Sven August Palmquist born approximately 1821/1822 in Sweden married an Ann Sophia Unknown (b.1827/28). Sven was a tailor. Children included Emma (b.1849/50), Augusta M. (b.1851/52), Sven Johan Edward (b.1855/56), Almond (b.1858/59), Ida C. (b.1864/65) and William Nathanael (b.1867/68). Almond, Ida, and William were born in Illinois. This family was in Richland Grove (now called Cable), Mercer County, Illinois during the 1860 US Federal Census. In 1870, they were in Sharps Creek, McPherson County, Kansas and Sven's wife is not listed. In 1880, they were in Union, McPherson County, Kansas and Sven is re-married to a Lisa.

I am trying to find the parents of Anna, Nils and Sven. I am guessing father's name was Lars since they originally went by Larson instead of Palmquist. On Anna's death certificate it states that her mother's name was Lovisa.

Any information or assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Linda
Hi, no I do not know the names of my grandfathers brothers. I do not know if he had sisters either. I do believe from a letter I read from my Great Aunt to my mom that my grandfathers name in Sweden was Elison. Then it was changed to Anderson here in the US. His name is all I know and that is John Alfred Anderson. I wish I could tie him to someone. In the same letter it stated that his 2 brothers came over to the US and changed their names to Almquist and Palmquist.
I don't know if they went to Ellis Island or where when they came here.
maybe there is a conection. Here is my email address.
pajewood@hctc.com

My father was Henry Sture Palmquist. Born around 1896-1901 August 12th. I'm not sure whether in Denmark or Sweden. He had a younger sister by the name Edith Palmquist. He also married a couple of times, so it is quite likely I have some step- brothers and /or sisters somewhere. He died around 1961. If anyone has any information on him I would love to hear.

I believe his birth mother's name is Doris McCall. I have no information regarding his birth father. If anyone has any information it would be appreciated. Thank you Tami Casperion1069@aol.com

Hi. I'm not sure if they could be the same family, but my grandfather, Alexander Palmquist, came to America from Sweden with at least one brother. They both changed their names to Palmquist when they came, and I have been unable to determine what their names were originally. Do you know either of your great grandfather's brother's first names?
Jennifer Norling
