Andrea

I am sure you know that you need a name of a town in order to proceed with the research.
There were some JOBAKs that came thru Ellis Island to America. You might want to take a look at the manifests.

How can I clarify?

My grandmother's maiden name was: Somogyi Erzsebet.
She had twin sisters: "Juliska neni" (she died in Budapest Hungary her only daughter: Eva, grandchild: Hedvig) and the other twin sister maiden name was: "Terus neni" Somogyi Terezia, her husband was Laszlo Jobak and she had 2 children, Eva and "Ocsi". I could'n remember if the little boy "Pistike" was Eva's child or her nephew.
They left Hungary I believe in 1956 and "Pisti" was left behind in Hungary. Since I was born in 1955 (Osi small village near Varpalota) I could remember only "Pisti" when he spent lots of time with my Aunt "Magda neni".
We don't know what happended to them, Terus neni came home to Hungary to visit about 1978.
My Aunt Magda neni just turned 87 years old and she can't understand what happended to them?
Please let me know, if this information is helpful to you.

Sincerely,
Irene Lakinger

How is he doing?

Tell me more about him and yourself.
I don't think he remembers to me, but maybe for my mother, "Bozsi neni", my grandmother and Magda neni. We had a mill and he came often to play with me when he was in Osi.

Where do you live?

I searched for Eva, the only thing I found she died Fairfield, Connecticut in 2006.

I hope this is a clue for his roots.

Love,
Irene

It is wonderful to hear that your family is doing well.
I live in Canada for almost 29 years, when I was 25 years old I met my husband and moved to Canada.
I was corresponded with your Grandmother (we called her "MANDY") until 1979/79. She even sent me some gift when I graduated from University and after that I never heard from her.

My daugther just came back from Hungary. She visited my family and Aunt Magda in Osi and they never forgotten your father! Is He forgotten how to speak Hungarian? I hope, not.
I searched a lot to find your family and after that many years finally I got some result.
