Freda E. Carlen, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died Thursday, June 25, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Russell Carlen of the family home; sons, Charles Wilson and wife, Pat of Illinois, Carrol Wilson of California and Darrol Wilson and wife, Kristi of Albuquerque; daughters, Tammy Carlon and husband, Ron of California and Brenda McClain and husband, Ron of Illinois; brother, John Boulds and wife, Jan of Albuquerque; and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Adrian"Skip" Wilson. She enjoyed young children, flowers and birds. Mrs. Carlen loved to volunteer for different organizations. She was a loving wife, mother and a great-grandmother. Memorial services will be held, Sunday, 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles officiating.
Ramona Constante, age 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 21 years, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 1998. She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Banda and Janet Levonne Chavez; 11 grandchildren, Lorenzo Banda, Elisa Hidalgo and husband, Larry, Zeferino Banda Jr. and wife, Brenda, Rachel Banda, Daniel Banda and wife, Stephanie, Gracie Banda, all of Albuquerque, Leonard Gonzalez and wife, Rita, Frank R. Gonzalez Jr. and wife, Terri, Murdock Gonzalez and wife, Pam, Steven Gonzalez, Davina Gonzalez and husband, David; and 21 great-grandchildren. A Rosary/Prayer service will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 1998, in Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 29, 1998, also in Palm Chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Leonard Gonzalez, Frank Gonzalez Jr., Steven Gonzalez, Larry Hidalgo, Zeferino Banda Jr., and Daniel Banda will serve as pallbearers. Mickey Cordova, 66, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 24, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Filomena Cordova of Albuquerque; son, Glenn A. Cordova of Albuquerque; father, Frank Cordova of Monterrey Park, CA; brother, Joseph Cordova and wife, Kay of Bosque Farms; sisters, Frances Medina and husband, Eddie of Oklahoma, Antonnette Rodriguez and husband, Rudy of Monterrey Park, CA and Joyce Cordova of Albuquerque; and many other family and friends. Mr. Cordova was preceded in death by his daughters, Deborah Ann and Sharon Marie; mother, Mary Cordova; and brother, Candy Cordova. He was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. Mr. Cordova was also a member of V.F.W. Post 3401. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, and he received the Bronze Star. He retired from New Mexico Air National Guard after 39 years, where he was also employed. Mr. Cordova was deployed to active duty with this unit during the Vietnam War. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with the Mariannites reciting. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Roy Fulgham, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Thursday, June 25, 1998. He is survived by is wife, Hazel Fulgham of the family home; daughter, L'Marie Fulgham of Los Lunas; grandson, Colby Julian of Los Lunas; step-sons, Melvin Romero and wife, Rita of Austin, TX and Manuel Romero and wife, Encarnacion and Joseph Romero and wife, Barbara, all of Albuquerque; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Fred Fulgham of Safford, AZ, Ray Fulgham of Clovis, NM, Robert Fulgham of Bloomfield, NM, and Walter Fulgham of Albuquerque; four sisters, Faye Bradley of Lancaster, CA, Daisy Eaton and Mary Miller, both of Clovis, NM, and Betty Webb of Princeville, OR. Mr. Fulgham was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Frank. He was an active and longtime member of Riverside Church of Christ. Mr. Fulgham was a volunteer at the Albuquerque Christian Children's Home. Services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Riverside Church of Christ, 3100 La Orilla Rd. NW, with Will McKenzie and Mark McKenzie officiating. Interment will take place Monday, 9:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Mrs. Paublita Garcia, age 77, died Thursday. She is survived by her sons, Tony Garcia and wife, Lorriane K., Chester Garcia and wife, Liz, Edward Garcia and wife, Louise and Pete Garcia; daughters, Isabel Aranda and husband, Augustine, Emily Garcia, Marcelina Garcia, Rosemary Gomez and husband, Fred and Mabel Teran and husband, Armando; daughter-in-law, Margie Garcia; sister, Concha; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Garcia; and sons, Ramon and Santos Garcia. Funeral services for Mrs. Garcia will be held on Monday at San Jose Catholic Church, where Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Janie B. Gregg, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died peacefully and gracefully on Thursday, June 25, 1998, after an extended battle with leukemia. She is survived by her son, George Roger Gregg and wife, Marcia of Littleton, CO; daughters, Susan Gregg of St. Louis, MO, and Margy Hillhouse and husband, Bruce of Jemez Springs. Mrs. Gregg was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Gregg in August 1987. Janie Bertie Rogers Gregg was born in 1915 in Quanah, Texas. She was reared in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1932. Mrs. Gregg earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Home Economics from Baylor University in 1936. She married George Thomas Gregg in 1941. Janie's career as an educator spanned three decades, culminating in the position of principal of Foothills High School at the New Mexico State Girl's Home in the late 60's and early 70's. She was elected"Boss of the Year" in 1970 by American Business Womens Association. Memorial services will take place Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at the chapel at the Grand Court, 300 Valencia SE, with Pastor Daniel Clymer officiating. Albert Franklin Knearl, 88, a resident of Rio Rancho, since 1976, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 1998. Albert was born March 29, 1910 the son of John F. and Cora B. Dale Knearl in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He had been the owner/operator of a restaurant in Palmdale, California before retiring and coming to New Mexico. Albert served in the US Army during WW II, was a member of the Sandoval Lodge #76 AF & AM, York Rite Bodies, Ballat Abyad Temple, West Mesa Shrine Club, Order of the Amaranth, and the Methodist Men's Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Loree in 1983. Albert is survived by his brother, Homer Knearl and his wife, Inez of Rio Rancho; two sisters, Velma Knearl of Wichita, KS, Cora Belle Hall and her husband, Scott of Fort Collins, CO, and many nieces and nephews and many friends who enjoyed the pleasure of his company. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 1998 in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with the Service on Saturday, June 27, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary. Officiating will be Rev. Tim Neustifter of the Rio Rancho United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Mary"Cookie" Manuelita Konz, 72, a lifelong resident of Moriarty, NM, passed away Friday, June 26, 1998. She was born October 1, 1925 in Moriarty to Lauriano and Eufracia Anaya. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Ladies Society of Moriarty. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Konz and Marilyn Kelley and her husband, Robert, all of Moriarty; seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Filandro and Stella Anaya, Mike and Mary Anaya, Ralph Anaya, Carlos and Shari Anaya, all of Moriarty, Tomey and Elnora Anaya of Albuquerque, Gabe Anaya of Las Cruces, NM, and Toney and Elaine Anaya of Santa Fe, NM; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and John Davis of Moriarty and Mary Louise and Pat Jaramillo of Odessa, TX; and four grandchildren, Shawna Tillberg, David and Kevin Smith, and Robby Kelley, all of Moriarty. Dorothy D. Kornman, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died on Wednesday, June 24, 1998. She is survived by her son, W.O. Alta E. Merritt, 103, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, June 25, 1998. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1918. Mrs. Merritt is survived by her daughter-in-law, Reba Merritt of Albuquerque; grandsons, Steve Merritt of Albuquerque, Rick Merritt and wife, Yolanda of Anchorage, AK and R. Eino Victor Pajunen, 88, husband, grandfather, fisherman, golfer and friend, passed away on June 24, 1998 in Albuquerque. Eino was a resident of Albuquerque from 1938 until 1992. He currently resided in Sun City, AZ. Eino was born on April 20, 1910 in Lowell, AZ. He received a degree in Education in 1934 from Arizona State Teachers College at Flagstaff. He worked for ICX Trucking Company from 1938 until 1973. He retired as vice president for New Mexico-Arizona Operations. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise Carson Pajunen of Albuquerque; a son, Victor Eino Pajunen and wife, Rose Marie of Albuquerque; a daughter, Judy Neely and husband, Jerry of Farmington, NM; three grandchildren, Becky Surmeier and husband, John of Folsum, CA, Marla Banning and husband, Denny of Albuquerque, and Marc Neely and wife, Kathy of Englewood, CO. Eino had five great-grandchildren, Neely, Mason, Abby, Cassidy and Callum. A memorial service will be at 10:00 o'clock this morning at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, with Pastor John Ross of the Believers Center of Albuquerque, officiating.
