There is a rumor that my family name Pajor was shortened when the family came to the USA in the late 1800's from Poland. However, noone seems to know the original spelling. I was hoping someone had some suggestions as to what the elongated spelling might have been?
Thank you!

Many Pajor's have contacted me from Poland. Although, my family is from Hungary. It might not have been shortened afterall. Check out

I do not think this name has changed because we have many Pajors in Poland. It is impossible to find any other (longer) version of this name.It is also difficult to find the original version because it is not of Polish origin. In my opinion it is a Hungarian name where there are many more Pajors than in Poland or is originated from a german word "bauer". Anyway in Polish name Pajor does not mean anything.
This is my opinion which is not final of course because I have not researched this problem despite my name .
with greetings,

Thank you for responding. I've recently heard from another that the name could also have been Pajorski. Still not sure what the original spelling was, or if indeed it did change, but it is interesting to ponder. Upon interviewing some older not-so-close relatives, they seemed to remember a g. grandfather being of possible hungarian descent. Perhaps I'll never know for sure, but the hungarian explanation seems to fit best in my situation so far. Bren
