I am looking for info on any other Pajer's from Hungary, specifically the Sekesferhavar(sp?) area. My dad's family is from there, and he left to come to the US in 1956. His mom had a twin sister, and his father and brother were killed during the revolution of 56. Thanks in advance

I am trying to contact some Pajer (Payer) relatives. My PAJER ancestors were from Hungary. They lived in a village called Vencsello now it is called Gavavencsello when the 2 towns merged in the 1970s. This area in Hungary is near the famous wine town of Tokay in NE Hungary. My grandmother was Pajer Borbala. She immigrated to the Pittsburgh area % married Dobozy Karoly in 1892. Her brothers immigrated later to the Perth Amboy area of New Jersey.I think some of the Pajer brothers were Peter, Conrad, Andras, Antol (Tony).
Anyone that might know of the Pajer families from around the NJ. NY & PA area that may be related, please contact me. I am finishing up my Hungarian Family History Book & would like to include some more relatives.

My wife's Payer family came from Solivar (Soovar) in what was Hungary but is now Slovakia. The ancestor that came over sometime in the 1890 timeframe was Antol (Anthony) Pajer. They went to the coal country near Jim Thorpe, PA ( Hauto and Mahanoy City) and then to Bayonne, NJ. His wife was Barbara (Borbala) Sebej. Given that Pajer is a rather uncommon name, I am sure that there is a connection asomewhere here.

Gerald,
I have lots of information on the Pajer's from Slovakia. They came to NJ and PA. E-mail me with a little more info and I'll see if they are the ancestors you are looking for.

THIS IS INCREDIBLE! I just spent hours looking for my great aunt Barbara Payer in the Soc. Sec. Death Indx. and thought I'd come here frustrated. ONLY TO FIND YOUR MESSAGE!! I know the Sebej side! Barbara was my grandmother's oldest sister. She is one of I believe 6 children: Stephen?, Joseph, Barbara, Mary and Catherina (twins) (My gram is Catherina), and the last girl I'm not sure of the name. Catherina moved to the Pgh., PA area around 1909 and married John Magyar from the same town of Solivar. Also e-mail me at raymarfrye@wmconnect.com

While I have just begun to research my mother's family history, I believe that we may have some connection. My great grandparents were Anton Payer and Barbara Sebej. I am aware of them living in or near Hauto. PA and then Bayonne and Jersey City, NJ.

... also Payer in the USA.

See family tree at

Also, the web site at

which links the family tree.

Your cited names look familiar, although I haven't checked the family tree recently.

I think that Mark (or Mark's wife) is a fourth cousin once removed. We communicated about this a year or two ago. I haven't done much genealogy recently.

See my reply to Moersdorf below for links to the genealogy.

I have a Katrina Pajer, born about 1820 , in Solivar Slovakia. She married Jozef Karpenczy. She is the only Pajer that I have in my family. Do you have any information on her ancestors?

Thank you,
