Hello to the Pafka's out there. My name if Jutka Kormos. My maiden name was Pafka. My father Anthony was born in 1895 in what is now Romaina, but then was Hungary. He came to the US in the 1920's some time. He had a sister named Julia and she had a daughter name Julia. He still has family living in Romainia, but I don't know how close or what the relationship is. Their name is Erno Pafka.
If anyone knows if this is part of his family, please post here and let me know.

Pafka's out there...

Hello! I'm Mike Pafka of Rochester NY. My
Father was Lloyd George Pafka, his father was
George Pafka, and after that it's a crap shoot
The last 3 generations of My family Pafka's
have resided in the USA. Where we came from is a good guess. I think Grampa Pafka was
born in NY City in the late 1800's(1896?).
There may have been more than one siblings
(George had a brother John who grew up in
upstate NY with sons residing there now).I
went looking for the Pafka tree and first
found only a small half dead "bush". looks like it's starting to grow again. I also have to believe that most of the people with
the surname Pafka have to be related. Glad to
hear from you and to know there are more Pafka's out there. Michael Pafka

Could it be that all of us are related in some strange way? Until a few days ago, I didn't even know there were any other Pafka's in the USA! I have lived in Michigan for the last fifty one years and never knew any other family with the same last name.

My father was Hungarian, born in 1895 in what is now Romania, but then was Hungary. He came to the America in the 1920's some time. He had a sister, and possibly a brother or cousin named Stephen I think.

He still has family living in Romania by the name of Erno Pafka. I'm still in touch with a family named Erno Pafka. Only once a year, (Christmas). If anyone knows of them let me know.

I found a Stephen (spelled Sgephen) having
lived in Ohio in 1910. At the time, he was 31
and married to Anna Pafka(27).Both were from
Austria as well as one of the 3 children
(also named Steve-Sgeve 5). The other 2 were
born in Ohio(Charles-3, Sophia-1). Stephen would have been born in 1879. Could this be the relative you mentioned as a cousin or
brother of Anthony? The census was taken 1910
in Lucas/Toledo Ohio. The two sons would have
(could have)children in their 50/60's if they
HAD any. I checked with Ohio relatives and they couldn't find any. I don't think WWII
would have involved either of the boys and
the next war would have passed them by too.

more if I find any....mike

Michael,

I don't think the Stephen you found is the same one I'm thinking of. The one I'm thinking of, if I'm right, died in WW1.

I have no doubt that somehow we are all related. In fact, in the early 90's I met an Erno Pafka in Hungary, where he was visiting with his wife and son. I also was visiting at the time. We were visiting my father's neice who lived in a suburb of Budapest.

Nice to meet all of my distant relatives on the net!
