PAFFETT - Sussex, Kent, Hampshire
If anyone can help with the names/families on the tree I am researching I would be very grateful. The line goes back from Alfred Paffett born 1910 in Tipperary (died Portsmouth, Hampshire) where his father William was stationed as a British Soldier and who married there. The Irish marriage record for William shows his father as Alfred Paffett but the space where his mother's name should be is blank. I have found a William Paffett born in Kent, parents Alfred (born Sussex) with wife Ellen. The eldest children of Alfred and Ellen are born in Hastings. There the trail stops. I can find no birth for Alfred Snr nor can I find his marriage to Ellen and can therefore not send for any certificates to take this family any further.
Does anyone recognise any of the above names please - or can anyone find what I have obviously missed.
Many thanks.

Re: PAFFETT - Sussex, Kent, Hampshire
Hi Vivian, Alfred Paffett (senior) if born in Hastings is likely to have been the son of John Paffett and Caroline (Knight). I will have to dig around in my notes to check if I have any info on this. The Sussex/Kent line of the family isn't my strong point I'm afraid, but I will help if I can. John Paffett was the eldest son of Michael Parfett (his children became Paffetts) and Rebecca Coker. They were married in Portsea in 1819. I can find no baptism records for their sons John, Henry (my great great grandfather), David or Frederick. There are records however for Alfred, Albert, Victoria (Alberts twin who died very young) and Eliza/Elizabeth who was known as Betsy. There may have been others I have forgotten but I am doing this from memory as my notes are still in boxes from my recent house move. I will have a root around and see what I can find. Regards, Rebecca

Re: PAFFETT - Sussex, Kent, Hampshire
Hi Rebecca
Many thanks for the information. I have had difficulty searching the census as the Paffett name never seems to be spelled the same way twice!! I believe Alfred (senior) is the son of John and Caroline Knight.
Hope your house move went well and would be grateful for any further information you can supply once you've unpacked.
Best wishes.

Hi Rebecca
I am a little further with the tree I am researching - due in the main to the info you sent. Did you turn up anything else or are you still in the midst of unpacking? Please don't think I am pressurising - just rather excited at having been able to fill in so many gaps.
Best wishes.

Re: PAFFETT - Sussex, Kent, Hampshire
Hi Vivian, Well I've had a good old rummage through my notes, but I can't seem to find anything on the children of John Paffett and Caroline Knight. I do know that I have a copy of John and Carolines marriage cert, which I haven't come across yet, so there may be more to sort through yet. I'll try and have a look this week sometime. Don't worry, your not pressuring, I know how exciting it is when your on a roll, lol!! Rebecca

Thanks Rebecca. The usual frustrations are beginning to set in with this tree - any help you can give may bring me back to some measure of sanity.
Wait to hear.
With best wishes.
