My Grandfather came to U.S. in 1868 from Prussia, or Germany. His name was Fred Wilhelm Lueis Paepke born 9/17/1847. Interested in finding out where he lived in Prussia or Germany, why he came here and who were his parents. I am doing a family tree and I am at a dead-end. He had a brother named Johann. He lived most of his life in lower Michigan.

My grandfather,Henry Frederick Paepke came to Toledo,
Ohio. Not sure when. But he married Augusta Semler
and they had my father, Henry Fredercik Geroge, and two
daughters, Elsie and Wilheminnie. We were the only
Paepke's in Toledo, although there were some
Papke's. They weren't related.
Recently, I saw someone in Toledo researching
the Paepke name. I emailed him but haven't heard back.
So far I ahvn'et done much with the Paepke name.
I'm working on my mother's side of the family.
According to my aunt, now deceased, my grandfather
came from Germany.

My Great Grandmother was Bertha Paepke she was the Daughter of Wilhelm Paepke (born: November 19, 1847 in Germany; d: June 11, 1926) and his second wife Amelia Ehlenfeldt they are both buried in Summerfield Church cemetary in IDA township,Monroe county MI. According to a story from a Paepke clan researcher William (Wilhelm) and his brother John (Johann) Paepke jumped ship and went to Toledo. William and his family moved to Bedford Township, Monroe County, MI around 1893-1896. If this info matches any you have I am willing to share information I am researching and connections. Also why don't you try using the Monroe County MI Query Forum thats part of MI Gens web

I too am researching the Paepke's from Toledo. According to my records I have a Paepke (possibly Henry Paepke b. abt. 1854) married to Mary Kolbow. I believe they possibly had a son Frederick who was married to an Amelia and they had a daughter Gladys.

My interest is more in the Kolbow link.
