Bud PAASCH

Bud PAASCH, 89, of Caldwell, passed away Jan. 30, 2005, to enter his final heavenly award. He died of natural causes.
He was born May 1, 1915, in Knowles, Okla., to Manford and Jennie PAASCH. He moved to Wendell at the age of 22, where he became active in the Assembly of God Church. It was during this time that he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and accepted his heavenly calling as a minister of the gospel.
He was married to Lila LAWRENCE on Jan. 24, 1943, in Jerome. He graduated from Southwestern Bible Institute in Waxahachie, Texas, and was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God General Council. Bud and Lila spent several years as directors of the Assemblies of God Servicemen's Center at Fort Hood in Kileen, Texas, church evangelists, and pioneered a four new churches to include Goldthwaite, Texas. Bud and Lila celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Bud served with the 398th Army Engineers during WW II within the European Theatre, where he was attached with the medical division and assisted with the unit's chaplain duties as well.
Upon completion of his teaching degree from the College of Idaho, he taught within public schools for 24 years at Paul, Caldwell and Melba. In 1980 he retired from the Melba School District where he had served as sixth grade teacher and principal. Because he so enjoyed teaching, he continued to substitute teach for some years after his retirement.
Bud also was an accomplished carpenter and cowboy. He built everything from bridges to homes and especially loved spending his summers working on carpentry jobs. He thoroughly loved raising and breaking horses. His pride and joy was his "little team" and wagon which he proudly included in every parade possible. He was a member of the Greenleaf Riding Club and the National Rifleman's Association. He also enjoyed his involvement with the Disabled American Veterans where he had served in several official capacities.
He is survived by his wife, Lila Lea PAASCH of Caldwell; two daughters, Darlene Rebecca (Becky) HARRYMAN of Kaufman, Texas and Debra Kay (Debbie) GEYER of Caldwell; three grandsons, one granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dovea DAVIS and Virginia WILSON; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at The First Assembly of God Church "The Domes." Interment with military rites will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Norman Geyer, Reverend Doyle Fulkes and Reverend Wesley Johnson. Bud's family will receive friends at Dakan Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening.
