Greetings! Have voluminous information on the Paar family of your city. Have contacted and even visited the Paar town in Hessen, Germany. Very cool, as we say here in Florida. Consulting my data base, Herbert Paar was the son of Andrew Paar, whose brother John Paar was my great-grandfather. Contact me for more info. Richard R. Paar

Dear Lisa, sorry it took so long to reply. Yes, about my trip to Germany. I took one day to look around the town where the Paar family originated from. The town was very pretty, I would like to go back some day. I took a look at the church, built on a steep hill, and the surrounding farms. I flew into Frankfurt airport, then took the train there. The Paars came from a village, with a Evangelical church built on a small hill overlooking the town. I did not locate any graveyards, but a WWI monument stood in the church yard, and on it were recorded names from my great-grandmother's family and their kin. Quite a shock. A larger town is only a few miles away, it had many nice shops and had a larger church built on a steep hill and winding streets. On my next trip, rather than just sight seeing, I would like to contact the mayor and the church officials, since they had contacted my a number of years ago in response to my letters. Germany is a very orderly country, that might work well. Also, give me your email address so that send you a copy of the Paar family history, I'm back to 1740 so far. Richard

Excuse me for looking over your shoulder, but in your note about your visit to the town of your Paar ancestors, I did not see any mention of the town's name. I too have Paar ancestors from Hesse, Germany. They came from Dainröde and Geismar. Do either look familiar?
|
Greg-- My Paar ancestors were from Geismar. They lived in that town many generations. The Paars from Dainroede I dont know about. The Paar family from that town emmigrated in 1870. I have a near complete tree from that point, and a lineage from about 1740. George Paar, who left for America to join his brother, had four sisters who stayed in Geismar. Perhaps you know more. Please respond to vonpahr@msn.com.
