My father is Harold Paape, born in Dodge Center Minnesota in March of 1925. I am trying to trace any and all family history...I have none

Hello Nancy. I, too, am interested in finding out more about the Paape family. Our father, Art Paape, died in 1997. He was born in Eau Claire WI a couple years before your father. Dad was one of 6 kids--father was Otto Paape. As I understand, Otto was from a large family, too, who settled in the Wisconsin and Illinois area. If you do a search, you will be that there are lots of Paapes in those states. If you do a search of Germany, you'll see that there are over 250! I'll be contacting an aunt soon who is supposed to have a lot of family information. I will let you know if I receive any information that might be helpful to you.

Hello Sandy, I am not a Paape; but my friend is Ron Paape. His father is Glen who was born in Eau Claire. One of Glen's uncles was Art, and his father's name was Carl. I suppose you could be Ron's second cousin.

My father's name was Arthur. His sisters and brothers are/were Earl, LaMoyne, Ramona, Robert, Mary, and Don. Unless Ron's parents were any of these (I don't know all the children), then he's may be related to one of the brothers of Otto Paape, the children's father, from Eau Claire, WI.

I am researching the Cleereman Family and know that there was an Anna Cleereman that married a Henry Paape in the early 1900's. Anna had been raised by the Sisters at the convent in Bay Settlement since her mother died giving birth to her in 1884. The only other information I have on her is that at the time of her brother Franks death in 1956 she was living in Cedarberg. Any assistance anyone can give me would be a great help.

Hi-all you who are searching the Paape surname--Appleton, WI is overrun with those by that name, mostly related to me through my gr-grandfather Herman Paape. However he ended up in NE with the name "Pope"! This was changed during the Civil War. His roll call records show that he enter the service with his orignal name of Paape, but due to the hurried looking penmanship, and perhaps the pronounciation of the umalata aa the records show that after a few times it was written "Pop" and the last few were "POPE". I have copies of his Civil War roll call, also afidavits where he had to have several people in the Shelton, Buffalo Co, NE area vouch that he was the same Herman Paape that entered and came out as Herman Pope, so he could draw his disability pension. My family then has gone by the name Pope, but there are some in WI that still go by the name Paape. This makes for a very interesting situation since his family I am sure came from Germany, THEN there are the "English" Popes who came from England, NO relation! Then I received a packet of original papers from a David Paape, Australia whose father was shot down over Holland and is buried there. His ancestor was also on an expidition with Byrd at the South Pole. I have lost contact with David, I copied the papers, and returned the originals to his address, but they were returned to me, and I have searched through people search on every site I can think of on the computer to find him to no avail. Anyone run into this situation??? HELP!
